I use this mostly because I'm impatient! It dries in 30 seconds (though usually I leave it for a minute just in case) and it adds a nice glossy finish. My polish definitely lasts longer with it, but I would dispute the claim of ten days - more like six days, and even then they look a bit more bedraggled towards the end, not chipped but a little faded at the tips. Still, I'm pretty happy with this product, it's noticeably more effective than the really cheap top-coats I've tried (like $3 ones) and I haven't found the expensive ones (like OPI) to be any better.

I still consider myself a bit of a make-up newbie - I only wear it to go out and because I wear glasses usually my eye make-up is pretty lowkey. But recently I was in a show so I wanted something a bit more spectacular, and one of my co-stars lent me this product. I've always used pencil, kohl or gel eyeliner because I thought liquid would require a really steady hand. I found it surprisingly easy to use, and you can always fix up mistakes with some make-up remover and a cotton bud (get the sharp ended ones) if you need. The brush is thin enough to be precise but thick enough that you only need two strokes. The best thing is that it's really BLACK - in comparison all my black pencils and gels look kind of grey and faded, even MAC Fluidline. It seemed to have pretty good staying power too - I had it on for maybe five hours and it didn't seem to smudge at all - but it's not waterproof. I might try some other liquid eyeliners to compare now but I was pretty happy with this.

I think of these as liquid paper for make-up -- the pointy end, dipped in remover, can fix eyeliner, mascara and even nail polish mistakes with precision and clean under your nails, while the flat end works on bigger smudges or blending eyeshadow/eyeliner. I've also discovered a fun trick with nail polish -- apply a coat of one colour (say, red), wait for it to dry, and then apply a coat of another colour (say, black) and wait for that to dry. It doesn't matter if either coat gets a little scratched or smudged. Then dip the flat end of one of these cotton buds in nail polish remover, and lightly stroke it over your nails, so you get a sort of marbled, eroded effect. Obviously not for everyone but pretty cool if that's your style.
