I got this free to trial for reviewing. I signed up to trial this because I have fine lines, puffy eyes , droopy eyelids, and dry, irritated skin around the eyes. I had high hopes for this because I’ve read caffeine helps with puffiness and lifting eyelid, and hyaluronic acid helps with fine lines and dry skin. The product is packaged in an elegant glass bottle. Unscrewing the lid reveals a stem with three roller balls for application. The gel-like serum is refreshing to apply. It absorbs fairly quickly with the recommended massage printed on the box. After awhile, I still felt the need to add a bit of moisturising eye cream, especially on the dry areas of my eyes. I’ve used this product twice a day, morning and evening. I always follow with a bit of moisturising eye cream because it didn’t feel hydrating enough. The product details in the box claims in two weeks my eye wrinkles should be smoothed and dark circles visibly reduced. I don’t really have a problem with dark circles, but I didn’t notice any difference with my fine lines above what my moisturising eye cream usually does for me. It also claims that eye lines improve dramatically after six weeks. I will continue to use it for six weeks or until I run out, but if I don’t see a difference by then, I probably would not recommend or repurchase. At this point, I don’t recommend it for what results it claims to produce. For what it’s worth, it does have an instant cooling effect and did not irritate my skin.

I chose to trial the Colour Revitalise variant to Tresemmé because I have bleached and dyed hair. The conditioner comes in a 940mls pump bottle. It usually takes 3-4 pumps to fully saturate my hair with the conditioner. I leave it on while I’m brushing my teeth in the shower, then rinse it off. I could instantly feel my hair was softer after rinsing. It did not leave an oily residue down my back. I love that it didn’t make me break out either, unlike some moisturising conditioners. My hair was easier to comb out and untangle after the first use. It also made my hair look and feel softer. I usually use a hair mask once a week to make my hair look and feel soft, but it tends to feel dry before I’m due for my next hair mask. While using this conditioner, along with the matching shampoo, I noticed my hair felt softer longer, until my next hair mask is due. The only thing I noticed was that after a couple of weeks I had to use a clarifying shampoo because my hair started to feel weighed down. I didn’t feel like I had to do this before using this shampoo and conditioner. I don’t mind doing this extra step though, because my hair is much healthier-looking after using this shampoo and conditioner. I would definitely recommend this shampoo and conditioners I will also repurchase when I’m done with this bottle. I’m glad that the price is affordable, whilst still giving salon-quality results.

Tresemmé Colour Revitalise Shampoo comes in a 940ml bottle with a pump. Two pumps dispenses enough shampoo my below-the-shoulders-length hair. It gives a good lather and is nicely scented. It rinses off easily and keeps hair soft. My hair is usually stiff from bleaching, but using both this and the conditioner has made it a lot softer and easier to untangle. I didn’t notice it affect my dyed hair either. I usually do a weekly hair mask to make my hair look softer, but it tends to dry out before my next scheduled mask. While using both this shampoo and the conditioner, I noticed my hair felt softer longer, until I’m due for the next hair mask. The only set back I noticed was that I had to deep cleanse with a clarifying shampoo once a fortnight to keep it from feeling weighed down. I didn’t have to do that before. But it’s a small price to pay for healthier-looking hair. I will definitely repurchase this shampoo with the conditioner. It also helps that it is affordable, unlike some other salon shampoos and conditioners.

It was a bit tricky using the shampoo and conditioner the first time. They look so much alike especially when you just woke up and hadn’t had a coffee. Ended up putting conditioner first. The large numbers 4 & 5 didn’t help much at that point. Now I know not to put them beside each other in the shower. The shampoo made my hair feel clean and strong. The conditioner made my hair a bit oily in the roots and felt not as smooth on the ends. The styling cream on the ends helps make it shinier and smoother, but weighs the roots down if I use it too near the roots. The bond restore treatment can be left for 10-15 minutes or overnight. I tried using it overnight with a shower cap on to keep it my pillowcase from soaking it up. That wasn’t very comfortable and I developed some acne after that night. I wouldn’t recommend overnight. My hair looked very healthy though after that night. I’ve used it for 10-15 minutes twice a week instead. It certainly helped make my hair look healthier after that. The scent is pleasant and not overwhelming. The bottles are squeeze bottles which I store upside down for easier dispensing of product. I’ll definitely be using up the conditioner first and styling cream last, so I hope they can be purchased separately. Overall, I would definitely recommend the set as a whole. If I break it down separately I would definitely find better products than these, except for the bond restore treatment, which is hopefully a cheaper alternative to the expensive Olaplex.

Bioré Pore Strips takes me back to my teens more than 25 years ago, I think when they first came out and everyone was amazed/grossed out by the stuff that comes off when you peel off the strip. Everyone thought it was all gunk that came out and kept using it because that gunk just keeps coming back. Pores looked even more pronounced after that stuff in them gets pulled out. Fast forward five years when I eventually saw a dermatologist and found out that most of the stuff that comes out from the strip are sebaceous filaments that are a normal part of our skin’s anatomy, therefore will always grow back. Skin is not congested or blocked when we have these filaments, it’s just what’s normal. It’s when they become infected or inflamed that it becomes a problem. Taking out the filaments to stop it from being infected or inflamed is like chopping off your knee to prevent knee pain. There are other, more effective, ways to treat black/whiteheads and enlarged pores. I got this free to trial and review and gave them to my teenage son so he can have a little fun, but I’m not purchasing because I feel there are better ways to treat congested and blocked pores.

Glow Lab Facial Moisturiser claims to quench skin, provide long-lasting hydration and protection for all skin types. Its ingredients include macadamia oil, rosehip seed oil, Shea butter, vitamin E to protect from free radicals and fight signs of premature ageing. A bit of disclaimer here, my facial and neck skin is so oily that I’ve never quite used a facial moisturiser on top of the moisturising I get from the serums and creams I use on my skin to target specific skin issues. Therefore, I don’t think I could make an objective review because I’m not going to stop my regular routine to solely trial the product, but instead, will use this on top of my regular routine even though I don’t feel the need for additional moisturising. The product claims to be for all skin types, so I will test and review it against my skin type. The product is lightweight with an inoffensive light scent. It takes a while for it to absorb, but after a while it did not leave behind a residue. My skin got shinier quicker than usual, so I guess it is moisturising, but that being said it might not be for oily skin that doesn’t need additional moisturising, which is weird because then it won’t exactly be for all skin types but why would you buy a moisturiser if you don’t want/need moisturising? Sorry, I guess what I mean to say is, I wouldn’t purchase this because I don’t need it, but I trialled and reviewed it because it was part of the Beauty Box that I have to review. The best part I could say is, it didn’t break me out and it didn’t hinder my regular products from working.

Du’It Tough Hands Intensive Skin Repair claims visible effects on dry, cracked, irritated, rough, and calloused hands caused by repeated washing, prolonged use of latex gloves, chemicals, solvents, cement, cleaners, abrasive soaps, detergents, and other allergens and irritants. The visible effects printed in the tube include skin-smoothing, softening, moisturising, hydrating, reviving, maintaining younger-looking hands, and (what caught my eye) gloves hands with a non-greasy protective barrier to shield the skin from harsh environmental stresses and neglect! As an operating nurse, I was excited to try this product because I have to wash my hands frequently with very harsh antiseptic chemicals before surgery with prolonged use of latex gloves. This results to dry, cracked and irritated skin. Honestly , their description of for who this product is for was like they were describing myself. I brought this to work and I used it 2-3 times daily and at bedtime as directed. The results are it does everything it claims to do except for the non-greasy bit. My hands felt a bit greasy, which feels uncomfortable at work. Like, are my hands greasy from the moisturiser or did I touch something gross? Anyway, because of the awesome results, I’ve continued to use it at bedtime, but switched back to my non-greasy hand cream for work. I still see good results even with just bedtime use and would happily repurchase. My husband also likes to use this at night, also sees good results except for his callouses, which are still there but not as rough as before.

Dermal Therapy Sensitive Skin Lotion claims to increase skin hydration by 50%, soothe, protect, and moisturise all while being free from petrochemicals, parabens, and fragrances. Now, there are quite a few moisturisers in the market that claim to be dermatologically tested and free from the nasties. The choice is basically if it doesn’t irritate your skin and its performance as a moisturiser. This product definitely did not irritate my son’s skin (he has sensitive skin). I find the texture to be lightweight and took a while of rubbing for it to be absorbed. Once absorbed, it did not feel sticky. It took a couple of reapplications during the day, his skin is still dry from winter. I can see this to be a nice lotion to use on my son during summer when he doesn’t need heavy duty moisturising. Overall, this is safe for sensitive skin that needs lightweight moisturising. Needs a bit of rubbing for it to absorb.

Dermal Therapy Pawpaw-enriched Lip Balm claims to soothe and hydrate severely dry and chapped lips, keeping them smooth and healthy. Directions advise to apply liberally 3-4 times daily or as required. I was very excited to get this product because wearing a mask practically all day (I’m an operating room nurse) has made my lips very dry and chapped. It doesn’t help that, as a nurse, I’m constantly dehydrated as well. For the first few days I used it as directed, reapplying after ever change of mask because most of the product doesn’t get absorbed by my lips and ends up being smeared in the mask. I stopped using this while wearing a mask because as it gets smeared on the mask, it also gets smeared on my chin and the skin around my lips. This, plus sweat and skin oils, made me break out on my chin and surrounding skin around my lips. I continued to use this but only at night when I’m at home and not using a mask. Overall, it absolutely does soothe and hydrate my dry and chapped lips as advertised, but I would advise not to use it while wearing a mask to avoid breakouts.

Super Bright Exfoliating Skin Brightener claims laser-like resurfacing and overnight results on pores, fine lines and surface discolouration. The active ingredients are salon-strength 25% Glycolic Acid, Lactokine to stimulate cell regeneration, and Aloe Vera to soothe and hydrate. I had to get my husband to use this because I am already a regular user of high-strength acids on my face and will not be able to make an objective review. My husband, who is not usually fussed about his looks, has been unusually concerned about his fine lines and discolouration since lockdown began, probably from the lack of anything else to do. Despite verbally reminding him of the directions for use, he proceeded to apply this EVERY night, instead of 1-2 times a week advised on the box. It’s been a couple of weeks already and his feedback is: He noticed his skin is more refined, with regards to pores and fine lines, but not overnight after the first use. Amazingly, he did not experience any redness, tightness, or irritation, despite using it everyday from the get go. He didn’t like the feeling that the serum didn’t feel fully absorbed despite aggressively rubbing it in. And finally, he did not see any significant change in his discolourations. My opinion is, based on my dermatologist, you can’t really expect results until at least 3 weeks to 3 months due to the rate of skin cell production, even with products that increase skin cell turnover. Anything that claims to do so overnight must be too harsh it actually does so, or is misleading. My husband is still using this every night because he hopes that in 3 weeks to 3 months it will improve his discolouration. For now, based on its claims, I would not recommend, but in 3 weeks to 3 months I’ll see from my husband if it actually works on the discolouration. His opinion is, if he finishes the bottle of serum before seeing any results on his discolouration, he will not repurchase.
