I received this to try along with the shampoo at the Best in Beauty event. I’ve managed to use it a few times on my mature fine hair, I don’t wash my hair every day but you can use this daily. This white conditioner is not as thick as some I’ve used but seems to coat the hair well when applied. It has a nice lemony smell although not so strong as to bother you unless you’re very sensitive. You leave it on for a minute then rinse off. It does rinse away nicely and leaves my wet hair feeling conditioned. Due to the short review period I haven’t seen a huge improvement in my hair’s condition, especially with the frizziness (it doesn’t necessarily claim to help this) but my hair does feel nice and soft and I hope with continued use I will see more effect. It is reasonably priced so well worth trying if your hair “fits the brief”.

We received this at the Best in Beauty event to trial and review. As with all Revlon products it is good quality and effective. I received the 002 Light shade and have been using it under the Illuminance Glow Filter (same shade). I don't usually use a concealer (probably laziness rather than that I don't need one) so I have been experimenting a bit to get the best results. I dab the dove foot applicator on the areas I think need it (under eyes although this isn't a big problem area) and on a few blemishes and blend it in. I find that blending it in too much can reduce the coverage so I am still looking for the best way to use it. I need to ensure the edges are well blended but do find it effective at covering the problem areas. I'm not sure I am dedicated enough to use this all the time but I am enjoying improving the look of my skin so I recommend this product.

This is an updated review - this is a combination curler straightener, which is quite unusual (does anyone else make one?). You can (with practice) make curls with a straightener however this one actually has both plates and a curling barrel in the one piece. It’s quite a heavy tool so will be hard work if you have lots of thick hair. The curling barrel is in two parts which lock together to curl but separate to reveal plates for straightening with plastic covers. I originally found it a bit fiddly to get the appropriate bit into position to lock it in place but practice has helped. I’m not a big user of hair styling tools but I’ve given this as good a test as I can. My hair is fine with a very slight wave, about shoulder length and is coloured/highlighted over grey. The styler heats up quickly but it would be useful if it had a stand or hanging loop for when it is cooling down. It has a few temperature settings and you can straighten with the plates and curl using either the plates or the barrel. I’ve straightened and curled with the barrel but found curling using the plates to be more difficult. I have practised that so I am better now however I tend to stick to curling with the barrel. The barrel is not tapered so you vary the curl by spreading out your hair along the barrel or keeping it close for tighter curls. A handy glove lets you hold the hot barrel if you need to. I do recommend this to anyone who is looking for a versatile hair tool although you need to take the weight into consideration.

Thank you BH and Remington for the Best in Beauty event product (generous as ever). This rose gold and grey dryer is a nice weight and comes with 4 attachments. I've tried them all although normally I only use some of them now and then. The dryer by itself gives a nice amount of heat and speed so lets me dry my hair quickly when I need to. I found using the attachments slows down the process. My hair is frizzy so the concentrator and flyaway tamer are useful for getting this under control. My hair is curly (ish) when wet but loses this when I dry it so my favourite attachment is the gentle drying diffuser, it lets me retain that slight curl. I do this when I have a bit more time as it does take longer - for me it is certainly worth the effort, I just have to get used to it. I haven't really worked out how to use the curl defining diffuser yet. More practice required! Overall this is a really nice hair dryer with useful attachments. I also like that it comes with a bag to keep the attachments in. I am going to get a lot of use out of this so thank you very much BH/Remington.

We were given this at the Best in Beauty event to trial. Lonvitalite is not a company I've heard of before. They are an Australian brand who have been around since 2009. This Platinum roller is easy to use, and while I haven't had it long enough to see any visible effects, it is certainly relaxing to use. I've tried it both on dry skin and with moisturiser, I think I prefer it with the latter as you just have to be a bit more gentle with dry skin. It feels nice and cool on the skin and you could even put it (or your lotion) in the fridge beforehand to get even more cooling effect. Just be sure to clean and dry it after. It comes in a nice box although a storage bag would be even better. This is not a cheap product so this has been a lovely way to trial something I'd not normally buy. I need to get myself into the habit of using it every day so I can really see if it works.

I received this at the Best in Beauty event. Revlon is a company that has been around for years and always produces good products. This is my first product in their skin coverage range and it is nice to start with a light product. My skin is mature combination with visible pores around my nose and chin. I am not a big user of skin coverage products so I have been starting small with this. I was matched to the 002 Light colour which does seem to be right for me. The Glow Filter comes in a glass bottle with a sponge applicator, I'm not sure how good this will be as I reach the bottom of the bottle. I usually dab it over my face then blend with my fingers. It gives a nice light cover which looks natural. It does tend to gather in my pores a bit so I need to pay attention to blending there. It feels nice and light on my skin and is easy to remove. I feel my skin looks more even and youthful wearing this although I'm still working on getting the best effect. This may also encourage me to try other skin coverage products.

Thank you John Frieda and BH Best in Beauty event for the opportunity to try the Frizz ease all-in-one extra strength serum. This is designed for thick, coarse hair and my hair is fine so I’m not really the target market. I'm not sure if this is the one we were given as my bottle looks a little different (and to the one on the John Frieda website) and the info here says for medium-thick hair. This serum is made in Germany, is cruelty free, and uses 50% less plastic (I’m not sure less than what). It has a pump lid and can be used on wet or dry hair. It’s clear with a slight smell; it’s quite thick but not sticky. I’m still trying to work out the right amount to use for my hair but I’m quite impressed at the frizz control. It doesn’t leave my hair hard or sticky. I’ve been mainly using it on dry hair. I’m not a big hair product user so this isn’t necessarily something I’d buy once this is finished however I do recommend it if you want to control the frizz.

Thank you Bioderma and the BH Best in Beauty event for the chance to trial this product. This is made in France and the company does not test on animals although may have animal ingredients in its products and does allow testing by third parties. This is a light clear oil in a pump top bottle and has little to no smell. You massage it into dry skin then emulsify with a little water. I didn’t find it made much of a ‘lather’ but I’m sure it was still doing its job. I mostly used this in the morning in the shower so I’m not too sure how it would go with a full face of make up however I did find it removed mascara effectively. I use toner after to make sure any residue is gone although I haven’t noticed any. I’ve had no reaction to using this on my mature combination skin. It leaves my skin feeling clean, but not stripped, and I haven’t found it makes oily areas more oily, or dry areas drier. I’m still taking a bit of convincing to put oils on my face but this is definitely one I’d use again. While it doesn’t have a sealing top the plastic piece it is sold with to hold up the pump is worth keeping if you plan to travel with it.

We received this to trial at the Best in Beauty event. I’m never convinced of the need for an ‘intimate wash lotion’ and there seem to be contradicting views of whether they are necessary or not. This is therefore the first one of these I’ve tried. It is made in Germany by the Dr Wolff company who also make a number of other products. This fulfills the requirements for a pH balanced gentle wash by containing lactic acid (pH 5 which is what skin is), it also contains chamomile extract and mild cleansers. It has a slight smell which I think is the lactic acid. You use it as you expect (I’m sure too many details are not required!) ensuring you rinse it away. It makes a good lather and probably works well as general body wash if you want, you can use it every day. I don’t have any sensitivity to products and have never noticed an issue using normal shower gels - I usually use water to wash that area. I’ve certainly not had any reaction to this. I’m not sure I need this although I will finish the bottle. If you do find you are sensitive to soaps and shower gels then it would definitely be worth giving this a try. I therefore recommend it.

Best in Beauty and Dr Wolff gave us this to trial along with the conditioner (I think a few people also got the tonic). I’d seen the Alpecin products from this company but I don’t think I’d ever tried any before. It’s made in Germany and this range is aged at hair over forty (I definitely qualify). The main active ingredient is caffeine although it also includes wheat protein and tea extract; it does contain SLS. It comes in a nice green bottle with a flip cap; it is clear with a lemony scent. When you apply it and lather it up you should leave it on your scalp for two minutes to allow the caffeine to travel along the hair. This is unusual for a shampoo so sometimes I forgot and in the interest of science applied some more. It rinses off nicely and leaves hair feeling clean but not stripped. In the relatively short review period I’ve washed my hair a few times so I may not yet be seeing the maximum benefits. However, along with conditioner it does leave my hair soft. There has been no visible effect on the frizziness but I hope this will happen as I use it longer. I recommend giving this a try if your hair is mature, brittle or fine.
