I’ve been using the Neutrogena Visible Repair Retinol Eye Cream for 2 weeks. Cream is white in colour, with no fragrance and easily dispensed from the plastic squeezy tube with a small nozzle and hygienic screw cap. As a beginner retinol user (having not used any retinol products in the previous 3 months) I read all the provided literature as well as the information contained on the box and on the tube - using it only 2-3 times per week for the first 3 weeks, I’m only up to the end of Week 2, so another week before I will use it daily. I’ve been applying it at night after cleansing; by gently dabbing a small amount around the entire eye area (ensuring it doesn’t come into contact with the eyes) and gently patting until it absorbs into the skin. I’ve used a sunscreen and I have tried to minimise my time in the sun while using the product. My skin has tolerated it well and I haven’t experienced any mild redness or tingling sensation – which can be normal and temporary and an indicator that it’s working. I have felt the skin around my eyes to be more hydrated and it does feel softer and smoother. I’ve not noticed any visible reduction of my fine lines or crows feet. It’s only been 2 weeks and in another week, I’ll move on to using it daily. It does seem to be mild, which is a good thing and the 15g tube will last quite a while, so I’m hopeful to see an improvement by the end of use.

LONVITALITE Platinum Contour Roller I received to trial from the Best in Beauty Marketplace Event, and I have been using it for two weeks. So Happy to have been given this to trial as I would never have spent $129 on this product without trialling. It would make a lovely thoughtful gift, and it comes gift boxed and beautifully presented. On the back of the box is printed (in easy to read) the instructions on how to use the roller with great pictorials. Roller has its own place for storage and you have the handy guide in front of you every time you take it out. Contour roller is made of high-quality materials that ensure durability and longevity, so you can use it every day without worrying about losing its effectiveness. Also designed to provide optimal pressure, so you can enjoy a rejuvenating facial massage without putting excessive pressure on your skin. The thought of using this for 10 minutes daily was quite daunting the first-time use. My fears were short lived as I settled down on the lounge in front of the tele at the end of the day. Weighted and it feels comfortable in the hand and it’s been ergonomically crafted to ensure a comfortable grip, so you can effortlessly glide it over your face without any discomfort or strain. Can be used on the entire face, including the brow line, jaw line, cheekbones, under the eyes, and across the lips With just 10 minutes of rolling every day, you can enjoy a multitude of benefits, such as reduced puffiness, inflammation and facial tension, along with improved lymphatic drainage and microcirculation. For me, I have a lot of tension in my face and using this for 10 minutes at night before bed relaxes my face – that’s a WIN and already a great benefit. I also use it down the side of my neck and shoulders to reduce tension.

Revlon Illuminance Glow™ Filter I received to trial from the Best in Beauty Marketplace Event and have been using it for two weeks. Shade I chose was MEDIUM 006 which luckily was a good match for my skin tone. Touted as a 4-in-1 muti-use glow boost. 1. Wear alone for radiant lightweight subtle glow 2. Underneath foundation as an all-over luminous primer 3. Mixed in with your favourite foundation for a light reflecting, dewy everyday look 4. On top as the finishing step, to highlight specific areas such as cheekbones, bridge of nose, brow-bone and cupids bow. I went for option 1. as I don’t like to be fiddling around with numerous products – one product only please. It does give a light coverage which is fine for daytime wear, but I found it too glowy and shiny for my liking, so I dulled it with loose powder swept over the top – yes, that’s two products! Presented in a glass bottle with a shiny mauve screw cap, it’s quite pretty. But I am NOT a fan of the doe foot sponge applicator and this is the first time I’ve come across this. I found myself dipping it in and out of the container a few times, to get enough product to then spread using my fingertips. Seems unhygienic to be dabbing the applicator on my face them immersing it back into the bottle. And no option to use the product if the sponge applicator breaks off as it looks to be a one-way valve, so you can’t tip the container up to dispense the product and I’m not sure you would be able to use all the product until it was empty – so it would go to waste, unlike a squeezy tube or a pump dispenser with a removable lid. Not a product I would repurchase.

BIODERMA Sensibio Micellar Cleansing Oil I received to trial from the Best in Beauty Marketplace Event and have been using it for two weeks. Slimline bottle with an easy to use pump dispenser and a clip that locks the pump so it doesn’t dispense – sort of child proof! Neutral scent so doesn’t irritate the skin. For cleansing at night I applied to dry skin, gently massaging face and eyes. Then adding a small amount of warm water to create an emulsion, then rinsed. I gently pat my skin dry then apply my nightly moisturiser. Cleansing oil removes all foundation, eye/ lip makeup and mascara and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft with no residue. I’ve even used a face pad with micellar water applied to it and swept over my face to discover no trace of any makeup! Found my new go-to cleanser for removing ALL makeup!

John Frieda Frizz Ease® Extra Strength Serum I received to trial from the Best in Beauty Marketplace Event and have been using it for two weeks. I have very short hair so not much hair to apply it to, but when it grows out a bit, it is curly and can frizz in wet or humid weather. This Extra Strength serum is formulated for thick, coarse hair which I also don’t have but it’s suitable for colour-treated hair, which I have. Comes is a slim line bottle with a pump dispenser which I found gave out a good small amount, so with one pump only, I wasn’t left with any excess. The scent I also liked. After towel drying my hair, I used one pump of the serum onto my palm, rubbed both palms together and spread onto my hair, avoiding the roots, then styled as usual. My hair was smoother after using and did feel more hydrated.

Plantur 39 Conditioner for Coloured and Stressed hair (not the Caffeine Conditioner) I received to trial from the Best in Beauty Marketplace Event and have used it 6 times in the last two weeks. Shampoo is designed for women over 40 (I’m 2 decades past that!) to help regenerate the hair surface, increase brilliance and revitalise their hair. Key ingredients of Caffeine, Antioxidants, Zinc, Niacin (Vitamin B3) and Avocado all contribute to achieving this. I applied this conditioner after using their Phyto Caffeine Shampoo, focusing on the ends, leaving on for 30 seconds, then rinsing thoroughly. Conditioner is a much runnier consistency than any other conditioners I’ve used. Comes in a bright green soft squeezy tube with a flip top lid and is easy to dispense and the scent is very pleasant. This conditioner isn’t the Caffeine one, however caffeine is listed as one of the top ingredients, so perhaps it’s a combination of both conditioners! After two weeks, I haven’t noticed any difference in my hair’s condition or brilliance, but I will continue to use it as my hair does feel very soft.

Plantur 39 Phyto-Caffeine Shampoo for Fine Brittle Hair, I received to trial from the Best in Beauty Marketplace Event and have used it 6 times in the last two weeks. Shampoo is designed for women over 40 (I’m 2 decades past that!) to help strengthen and revitalise their hair. Key ingredients of Caffeine, Antioxidants, Zinc and Niacin (Vitamin B3) all contribute to achieving this. I applied this shampoo after rinsing my hair, gently massaging it into the scalp and left it on for 2-3minutes. They recommend at least 2 minutes and up to 5 minutes. But as it’s shampoo, I did find it irritated my eyes and hard to keep out of them while your hair is dripping wet. Rinse and apply conditioner. Apart from it stinging my eyes, it’s a gentle shampoo (second shampoo is not required) and recommended to use daily (which I didn’t do as it’s not convenient to wash my hair daily) for the benefit of the caffeine to strengthen the hair. Comes in a bright green container, easy to dispense and the scent is very pleasant. After two weeks, I haven’t noticed any difference in my hair’s strength or growth, but I will continue to use it as I find it very mild and doesn’t dry out my hair.

Dr. Wolff’s V-san Intimate Wash Lotion I received to trial from the Best in Beauty Marketplace Event. Intended for daily use for intimate hygiene and can be used once or twice daily. I used it as I would use a shower gel – applying a small amount directly into my hand, then gently applying it to the outside vaginal area (not intended for internal use) then rinse off. Lather is light and it does have a lovely, pleasant aroma (parfum) and contains lactic acid to balance the skin’s pH level along with chamomile extract to soothe the skin. Can be used on the whole body which I have done and the 200ml size makes it convenient for travel. Never had the need to use a wash specifically for the intimate area so it’s not something I would continue to purchase, but good to know about it and to have tried it.

Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning Moisturising Lip Balm, I received to trial at the Best in Beauty Event. I have used a few Burt’s Bees lip balms and even though I found this one better than their others I’ve used, it’s not moisturising or hydrating to me. It felt that by using it, my lips were drier! I have been using it for 2 weeks, constantly applying it throughout the day – like every hour or more often. It’s not long lasting and I’m constantly applying and re-applying - just doesn’t cut it for me. I do like that it is natural and made from lots of lovely enriching ingredients, but not rich enough.

Received the Dermal Therapy Sensitive Skin Lotion at the Best in Beauty Event to trial. Convenient, handy and sturdy 250ml size with a pump dispenser making it ideal for kitchen/bedside table/bathroom/coffee table! First use took quite a while for the “lotion” to come through the pump, as it’s a very thick lotion (not a runny consistency!) and closer to a cream. I’ve been applying it every morning after showering for the past two weeks – gently massaging it on to my legs and arms that have become quite dry. It absorbs readily into the skin and leaves no residue and I love that it has no aroma whatsoever. I’ve also been using it on my hands and feet and found it has made these areas soft and smooth after only a few days use. I don’t suffer from any skin conditions it’s suitable for, but my skin occasionally will react to a product, but this can safely be used by anyone. 250ml size is handy, but I’ll invest in the 750ml size for the price!
