I have naturally wavy hair that doesn’t hold a curl well so I was intrigued by this cream. When I first used the product, it took a moment to get the hang of the dispenser which you press down on and a toothpaste-like squirt of product comes out. I put it through my towel dried hair, scrunched it through and let it dry. The curls held reasonably well but the result was incredibly sticky. It became really difficult to brush out the curls and I have naturally tangle-prone hair so I actually plaited it before sleeping so it didn’t become a mess. It continued to be sticky in coming days and once brushed through, the curls didn’t hold. Unfortunately, this product just wasn’t for me.

I got to trial the Aveeno Intense Relief Hand Cream along with the Skin Relief Body Wash and Moisturising Lotion as a three-strep combo. I had actually bought this hand cream for myself a while back and while I didn’t mind it, I have to admit it didn’t blow me away and I didn’t plan on repurchasing. This trial meant I could give it a second chance. It comes in a plastic tube with a sturdy flip-top lid. It has a rich formula - I tested it by squeezing a few small drops onto my hand and turning it upside down. It didn’t budge! The key is to use it sparingly. A small amount hydrates without being greasy and sinks it in relatively quickly too. Too much has the opposite effect. It does the job well but it’s not one of my favourites hence four stars. Would still recommend it as an effective option.

It was perfect timing to get to trial the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion with the current cold weather. I’m always on the lookout for an extra hydrating moisturiser especially in winter. I was also looking forward to trying it as I love a good fragrance free body moisturiser since I’m quite sensitive to strong scents. On first impression, it comes in a compact blue and cream coloured bottle with a convenient pump. I found that it has an interesting gel-like formula that smoothes onto my skin with ease and sinks in quickly. It’s lovely and hydrating which I put down to the addition of oats in the formula, helped me keep scaly, itchy skin at bay. I’ve really enjoyed using this as a three-step combo with the matching body moisturiser and Intense Relief hand cream. I would highly recommend this body moisturiser especially if you’re prone to dry or sensitive skin.

I found that this body wash has a gorgeously thick, almost plush formula that lathers well and feels beautiful on my skin. It’s lovely and gentle which I put down to the addition of oatmeal and helped me keep scaly, itchy skin at bay. I’ve really enjoyed using this as a three-step combo with the matching body moisturiser and Intense Relief hand cream. I would highly recommend this body wash especially if you’re prone to dry or sensitive skin.

I was really excited to receive the Elizabeth Arden Lip Colour cause I’m always on the lookout for a nice lipstick. I picked the shade ‘Dreamy Mauve’ because it looked like it might be a nice ‘my lips but better’ shade. Sure enough, it’s a beautiful pinky-purple nude. I was a little apprehensive to try it because I find it almost impossible to find good nude/MLBB shades since I have medium-dark skin with yellow undertones and a lot of nudes look washed out on me. When I first used it, I was so excited to find that the shade was absolutely perfect on me - a really lovely everyday colour. It has a beautiful buttery formula that smooths on with ease and provides a soft, satin finish. It has a decent wear time over a working day and even when it fades, it leaves a nice stain on my lips. The packaging is also pretty and practical. The tube is a luxe pale rose gold colour and the magnetic closure makes a satisfying ‘click’ and ensures it doesn’t come apart in my handbag. Thanks BH and Elizabeth Arden - I’ve loved trialling this lipstick! Would highly recommend giving it a go.

I've had great success with the Toleriane range for my sensitive skin ever since I was introduced to it at a BH event many years ago and this cleanser is no different. It comes in a generous sized flip top tube but it needs to be poured out carefully because of the slightly runny formula. It lathers nicely and cleanses beautifully without being stripping, even in the midst of peak winter. It feels gorgeous on my skin as massage it in before rinsing so I can see why it's called 'caring wash'. I never used to repurchase cleansers since I found it so hard to find one suitable for my sensitive, combination skin but I'm close to finishing my second tube and plan on repurchasing a third (along with another La Roche-Posay Toleriane cleanser - the Dermo cleanser). The brand is a little pricey but can be quite affordable in a good sale. Would highly recommend this cleanser.

I thought it would be great to try out an affordable range that aimed to be gentle and nourishing since I have very dry and weak hair. On first impression, this conditioner has a thick, off white formula. The thickness meant that it needed a good, strong squeeze to get enough product out and meant that I needed a generous amount to cover my waist length hair. The good thing is that at such a reasonable price, having to use a lot of conditioner wasn’t a worry. I found it to be mildly hydrating but still needed a leave-in conditioner afterwards although personally that’s the case with a lot of conditioners I use because I have very dry hair, that gets even drier in the Canberra winter. Overall, a nice, gentle and affordable range.

I thought it would be great to try out an affordable range that aimed to be gentle and nourishing since I have very dry and weak hair. On first impression, this shampoo has a thick, pearlescent formula that lathers well. The thickness meant that it needed a good strong squeeze to get enough product out and meant that I needed to use a decent amount for enough for my waist length hair. I found it cleaned my hair nicely and while it wasn’t too drying, it wasn’t hydrating either. While this shampoo didn’t set my world on fire, I found it to be a nice everyday cleansing shampoo and very much worth a try at such an affordable price.

This is my new favourite body wash - it has a gorgeously refreshing and uplifting scent. I’m a huge fan of citrus body washes so when I saw this body wash in Sukin’s new range and at half price too, I jumped at the chance to try it and boy am I glad I did! It has a lovely lemon scent that’s gentle and not sharp like some citrus scents can be, I’m assuming from the cucumber. It has a runny, opaque white consistency that lathers beautifully but isn’t drying at all and that’s especially important considering the cold, Canberra weather at this time of year. Although I usually prefer to rotate body washes, I’m still enjoying this one exclusively. Even better is the affordable price tag. Give this one a go - you won’t regret it!

On first impression, I was intrigued by the neat purple glass bottle with the triple roller ball applicator – certainly like nothing I’ve seen before! The design of the applicator allows it to bend easily into an L-shape. I thought this was quite clever but I found that if I applied the serum all over my under eyes and eyelids with the applicator, it wasted a lot of product and that method quickly made a dent in the amount of serum left, even though I hadn’t used it for very long. Instead, what worked best for me was to wipe the applicator along the sides of the bottle to reduce excess product, apply the serum on my under eyes and then use my ring finger to gently spread it over the rest of my eye area. Personally, I have quite dark circles, sensitive skin and deepening fine lines under my eyes as I get older. In terms of effectiveness, I found the serum to be nice and hydrating which makes sense with the hyaluronic acid and didn’t irritate my sensitive skin which is always a pleasant surprise as I react with a lot of skincare. However, I saw very little difference to my dark circles or fine lines which is a little disappointing. It could be that I need to use the serum longer to see the effects. At this point, I probably wouldn’t repurchase as it doesn’t meet my needs but it would likely be a great eye serum if you suffer from dry skin.
