If you’ve ever looked at a photo of your favourite celeb and wondered how their skin always looks so flawless, chances are it’s due to a next-gen beauty treatment. The latest celebrity skin care trend on the block? Morpheus8, an innovative skin needling treatment that promises to lift, tighten and plump your complexion.
It’s already proven popular amongst Hollywood’s elite, from Kim Kardashian to Eva Longoria. And now, Australian clinics are beginning to jump on the trend and offer the treatment to local clientele.
So we spoke with Dr David Shokrian from Millennial Plastic Surgey in NYC to find out all about the infamous Morpheus8 treatment.
What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is a non-surgical approach to youth-proofing that combines microneedling and radiofrequency. Think of the treatment as a more advanced form of microneedling. It is used to target wrinkles, discolouration and acne scarring, as well as contour the area.
“Morpheus8 is a clinical treatment that uses microneedles to create micro-injuries on targeted skin areas to stimulate collagen production for wrinkle reduction,” Dr. David says. “Once the microneedles penetrate the skin, they emit radiofrequency waves which penetrate deeper skin layers, resulting in a tightening of the underlying fat and skin.”
Morpheus8 can be used to target multiple areas of the body, including the face, neck, stomach and thighs.
What is the Morpheus8 treatment process?
First step: numbing cream. There are tiny needles piercing your skin, after all. After the area is successfully numbed, the treatment process begins and takes around 30 minutes (depending on the area being treated).
What are the benefits of the Morpheus8?
- Skin tightening
- Acne scar reduction
- Collagen and elastin formation
- Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
- Decreased under-eye dark circles
- Tighter neck and jaw line
- Improved skin tone, colour and texture
The better question is: what can’t Morpheus8 do?
How many Morpheus8 sessions do I need?
Dr. David recommends patients get three sessions spaced 3-4 weeks apart for long-lasting results. After the initial course of treatment, a maintenance session is required once every 6 months for the best outcome.
What is the difference between Morpheus8 and microneedling?
The main difference is that Morpheus8 uses radio frequency energy, whereas microneedling relies on needling alone.
“The radiofrequency energy emits precise, effective high energy stimulus to the underlying dermis and fat to rapidly increase the body’s own ability to rejuvenate and tighten,” says Dr. David. “It’s like microneedling with a nuclear engine behind it.”
Who is Morpheus8 best for?
Well, according to Dr. David, “almost everybody can benefit from this treatment.”
He notes that Morpheus8 has been amazingly effective in people suffering from active acne, as well as those with old acne scars. The treatment is also ideal for patients in their 20s and 30s to help maintain smooth, tighter skin.
It’s also a good option for those with mature skin looking to target sagging, wrinkles and jowling in the mid-face and neck.
Morpheus8 also helps tighten skin on other parts of the body like the arms, stomach, knees, thighs and calves. Long story short: Morpeus8 is probably something we could all benefit from!
Is there any downtime?
Put simply, no. The Morhpeus8 procedure takes less than an hour to complete and any redness should disappear by the next day.
Are there any side-effects of Morpheus8?
“There is mild redness for a day and then the patient can resume all usual skin care and activity: makeup can be worn the next day,” says Dr David. Some patients may also experience mild tingling, but this should subside shortly after the treatment.
What is the Morpheus8 aftercare process?
Dr David recommends using an oil-free moisturiser, along with a high SPF and vitamin C. “We have our own unique post treatment skin care regimen we recommend to all our patients,” he says.
Consult your aesthetician for a tailored post-treatment skin care.
Would you like to try the Morpheus8 treatment?
The most important questions is it proved to be suitable for all skin types?
according to the web site yes good for all skin types
Yes I would definitely try this.
Not for me I dont think
Although I must admit it would be good to have a flat stomach and no lines on my face??
I would try this too
It doesn’t look appealing to me.
It looks crazy =D hope not another trendy scam
Is that blood on the face from the needles?
yes definitely
Yeah. Looks utterly terrifying
I also want to know how much it costs
I expect this would be pricey – especially as I’d need my whole body done!
me too and I agree with you
That goes for most of us. It also looks painful?
Haha! I would love to get it done all over too
It sounds awesome but the cost is probably up there
I don’t trust anything Hollywood is trying to sell
It looks scary to me. I’ll wait to see what any long term effects might be.
This is all hypering around on socials. It’s having its day. Few months something else. Haha
I Dr googled cost and it was approx $3000 for 3 sessions so well out of my pocket
Oh, that is rather expensive. Maybe a holiday instead?
Wow that ladyin thevideo doesn’t look like she needs any skin tightening – she’s young!
yes very misleading
This doesn’t appeal to me.
Yikes, not sure I’d be up for this and also looks expensive.
ooh and the prices?
Yes, that’s what I want to know too. I bet it is pricey
This is really interesting.
Not sure about Morpheus8 I know that you can get injections into the Arms, Neck and Stomach Area’s that dissolves Fat away and your body gets rid of it.
Something I would get done if I could afford it.
The cost…
From $1,100 for full face.
It’s a no from me……….!
and no from me . I googled and loaded cost but was moderated
Painful! Not for me thanks
This looks interesting. But not sure i can afford.
Hmm, not sure if I’d give that a go.
I suspect that I wouldn’t be allowed to try this for medical reasons.
It would be great to have loads of money to try out a lot of beauty treatments to see what personally works.
So true if I had the money and could afford to spend big I might try this.
Id love to try this out. So many similar things i’ve been wanting to try, but I’ve gotta save up for it. But its good to know that its still safe to breastfeed
I wonder how much it costs. Id like to try it on my stomach.
I’ll pass on this one.
very interesting, wonder how much it costs.
I would give it a go but would need to win Lotto first
When I look at Kim Kardashian, Eva Longoria & Miranda Kerr I think Great Genetics.
If someone else was paying and I would give it a go. It does look really painful though.
