Liposuction has come a long way in the last decade with the emergence of non-invasive technologies like ultrasonic liposuction. The idea of a non-surgical fat loss procedure is pretty appealing, right? Well, for research sake I gave it a go. I jumped on the Vaniday app and found the right treatment within minutes (if you’re a beauty lover and don’t already have this app, download it stat!). So off I went to Skin Body Health laser clinic for their Ultrasonic Liposuction and Faradic Muscle Stimulation treatments, which reduce fat and tone the skin. Throughout six treatments, I picked the brains of skin specialist and founder of the clinic, Jade Wieland, about how the treatments work and why you should try them…
Ultrasonic Liposuction
This treatment uses ultrasound waves to create ‘lipolysis’ of the fat cells. Jade explains, “Lipolysis is the action of shrinking fat cells by causing triglycerides (the substance that fills out fat cells) to convert into free flowing fatty acids.” Once this happens, they can escape and be metabolised by the body, which “ultimately causes the fat cells to shrink.” The process also makes it more difficult for the cells to absorb new fat (happy days!). This treatment can be used on any part of the body with stubborn fat and/or cellulite. I chose to focus on my upper thighs.
Faradic Muscle Stimulation
This treatment can follow ultrasonic liposuction and works to stimulate targeted muscle groups for a long and constant period of time. Jade explains, “When we work out in the gym, we target certain muscle groups for a limited period of time and we may also be tearing the muscles which causes them to build or bulk up.” When you use faradic muscle stimulation you can target specific muscles for a longer time (up to 40 minutes) which gives faster results. Jade tells me, “This method only works on elongating and toning the muscles without building or bulking them up.” The result? A slimmer, more toned figure.
Cost
Ultrasonic Liposuction starts at $290 per treatment and Faradic Muscle Stimulation starts at $149. Or you can book the two treatments together – it’s called the Ultra Slim and Tone Treatment – and is usually $399 but they also have an introductory special offer of $199. Jade recommends between six to 10 sessions depending on individual needs.
Who is it suited to?
Jade recommends these treatments to “anyone who wishes to contour and shape their body. They are particularly recommended to those of us who have trouble losing fat or toning up in certain areas such as the tummy, hips and thighs.” Throughout my six treatments I lost 4cm off each of my thighs (total of 8cm). Not too shabby!
Have you ever heard of ultrasonic liposuction? Would you try it?
