Actress Sofia Vergara, (best known for her role on US sitcom Modern Family), made headlines a little over two months ago for all the right reasons – namely, her lavish marriage to Hollywood super hunk Joe Manganiello (could she have looked any more stunning!?). However, this month, the Colombian-born starlet is back in the limelight under much less happy circumstances.
Vergara is suing private beauty company, Venus Concept, for $US15 million after she claims the brand used her image to endorse their product without permission. Yikes!

Back in August 2014, Vergara posted an image on Instagram trying a Legacy skin-tightening treatment. That image has since been used to endorse the treatment on the company’s social media pages as well as other related sites.
The lawsuit accuses Venus Concept of “improper and inappropriate use of her image” and claims that, “Vergara tried the Legacy treatment but ultimately did not like it, finding that it was a waste of time and money with little in the way of any results. (Vergara) would not use it again and certainly would not endorse it nor agree to appear in an international advertisement campaign to promote it. (She) does not recommend the Venus Legacy product or services.”
As a CoverGirl ambassador, we know Sofia is a fan of all things beauty and is willing to endorse brands she loves. In this case however, it seems her celebrity profile has been exploited and it could turn out to be one expensive mistake for the beauty company!
What do you think of the lawsuit? Do you think Sofia Vergara has a right to sue Venus Concept?
