A Cosmetic Surgeon Has Revealed 2023’s Most Surprising Plastic Surgery Trend

Beauty trends come and go, and most of the time that’s half the fun. But it’s not just certain hairstyles and manicure designs that have a fleeting moment in the sun. Plastic surgery trends are often fluctuating too. A scary thought, no? After all, it’s much easier to grow out curtain bangs than it is to reverse a facelift.

So where have cosmetic trends been and where do they sit now? Well, 2020 marked an uptick in requests for the Margot Robbie or Angelina Jolie special, 2022 was all about body treatments like ear pinning and tummy tucks and as for 2023?

According to cosmetic surgeon and owner of Absolute Cosmetic Dr Glenn Murray, consumers are all about looking au natural. And for some — despite being familiar with the key cosmetic procedures to avoid — this means they’re coming in to have previous work undone.

Why are Australians reversing plastic surgery in 2023?

If you’re asking Dr Murray, the driving force behind the latest cosmetic reversal trend is not due to ‘botched’ treatments but rather a desire to achieve the “less is more aesthetic that celebrates individuality”. In fact, Dr Murray has estimated a whopping 300 per cent increase in cosmetic procedure reversals.

Though it’s not just Aussies that want to start afresh.

A-listers like Courtney Cox have publicly spoken out about reversing cosmetic procedures, and this year’s season of The Kardashians showcased the sisters discussing their role in setting unrealistic beauty standards.

Unsurprisingly this trend is not without controversy, Dr Murray warns. As with any treatment (invasive or not), make sure you’re entering all appointments having done your due diligence. It’s believed that some clinics may be seeing the demand for reversals as an opportunity to cash in.

In some cases, patients are being encouraged to undergo a complete rehaul and reset, and winding up with an “incorrect diagnosis of filler migration.” Big yikes.

And for those who are less concerned about reversing work and are considering their first procedure? There’s an app for that. No, seriously. From Botox to brow lifts, you can now “try on” a nose job before committing.

  1. If I had the money for plastic surgery, I wouldn’t know where to start. It’s probably lucky that it’s beyond my finances.

Courtney Cox looks like herself in the above pic. I’m happy for her, because she was looking freaky for a while.
