You know how sometimes, for no rhyme or reason, your favourite skin care products just stop being as awesome as they usually are? Your skin starts to feel dry or overly oily, it starts looking kind of dull and uneven, and your make-up just doesn’t sit quite right – despite the fact you’re using the same products in the exact same way as you always do.
Well, before you rush out to replace your once-loved products, consider this culprit first: dead skin cells. Yep, chances are those miniscule flakes of skin are responsible for preventing your products from effectively penetrating your skin, leading to the dryness/oiliness/lack of radiance that you’re experiencing. And it can happen even if you’re exfoliating!
You see, I’ve always considered myself quite conscientious with my exfoliation so didn’t ever think that an accumulation of dead skin cells would be the cause of my skin issues. But then I had a treatment with the asap microplus+ machine, and, well, I think this picture pretty much speaks for itself:
In the picture above, the image on the left is of the microplus+ machine’s filter before my treatment; and on the right is the filter after my treatment. And yep, that white stuff is the hundreds of thousands of dead skin cells that were sitting right there on my skin (pretty gross, right?).
So how exactly does it work? The asap microplus+ is a microdermabrasion machine that uses diamond tips and a gentle vacuum system to gently remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. It’s completely non-invasive and non-abrasive – it kind of just feels like your therapist is running a gentle suction tube over your face. But as you can see, it’s very effective.
Once my dead skin cells had been removed, a hydrating serum was infused into my skin using ultrasonic technology, which helps to deliver active ingredients to the deeper layers of the skin. Afterwards, my skin felt ridiculously smooth, soft and plump and had a clarity and even tone that I don’t think I’d seen in years. And the best part was that the entire process took no more than about 30 minutes from start to finish!
Have you ever had microdermabrasion? Would you like to try this treatment?
