Beyonce Knowles has called on her fans to post images or videos on Instagram with the hashtag #WhatIsPretty.

Despite ongoing speculation about tensions between her husband, Jay-Z and sister, Solange, the singer is focusing on challenging conventional ideas of beauty to promote her new single, Pretty Hurts.

Thousands of intimate snaps have already been posted on a special website, which has become a communal art project celebrating beauty in life, family and nature.
