4 beauty trends to welcome winter

If you ask me, one of the best things about beauty is how it enables us to express ourselves.

Whether we’re experimenting with a bright new lippie or a daring ‘do, a show-stopping beauty look requires us to be adventurous, imaginative and a little bit creative.

Bold beauty displays may not be for everyone, but most trends can be adapted to suit subtler tastes. So basically, there’s no excuse not to try…

Peel-off make-up

Peel-off make-up is causing quite a stir on social media at the moment. Similar to eyebrow tints and lip tints or stains, you paint them on wet, wait for them to dry and peel them off to reveal a temporary stain that lasts for hours.

Our tip? If you’re thinking of trying them out, make sure your face is freshly exfoliated and free of make-up/other product residue, to ensure the stain sticks.

Man perms

There’s a new boy beauty trend taking over Instagram: the man perm. Inspired by Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, the curly hairstyle is universally flattering – and hairdressers have been inundated with requests to recreate the ‘do.

There’s just one difference: Jon Snow rocks a full head of curls, whereas the modern interpretation tends to be accompanied by a sleeker, short back and sides.

Mum bobs

Another hair look we’ve seen lots of lately is a style bh’s Anna has coined the ‘mum bob’. Rihanna, Adele, Demi Lovato, Gigi Hadid and even Taylor Swift have all been rocking the sleek, shiny bob, without a single hair out of place.

But there’s nothing ‘mumsy’ about this hair look. The bluntness of the cut keeps it modern, while the typically vibrant colour and #nextlevel shine factor ensures it’s a true head-turner.

Snakeskin manicures

If you like exotic nail art, you’re going to love this trend! Snakeskin manicures are popping up everywhere on social media, with the python pattern proving surprisingly versatile.

From full-on glam to super understated, it also comes in a plethora of colourways, from greens to pinks and even neutral hues.
