Did you moisturise your body this morning? Do you remember the last time you shaved your legs? Hmm… thought so.
We totally get it. Winter equals jeans, tights, coats, and a complete wardrobe of clothes that cover our entire bodies, so most of the time no-one can even see the flaky scales or two-month-old regrowth that are covering your legs. So, why bother?!
Well, there are many reasons, and they’re not only to make you feel clean and refreshed. Read on to find out how to get your winter beauty issues sorted in twenty minutes or less.
LESSON #1: GET YOUR BODY HAIR UNDER CONTROL
Yes it’s damn cold out there, but that’s no excuse to be harvesting a forest on your legs. Besides, we’re not covered in clothes all winter (i.e. getting dressed, showering, or getting busy in the bedroom…), so unless you’d like to join the Hairy Legs Club, we suggest you get it under control to avoid getting caught out.
Arm yourself with a wax kit like Andrea Brazilian Hard Wax to give yourself smooth, fuzz-free skin for weeks on end. Also, consider investing in an at-home IPL tool such as the Philips Lumea Comfort, which removes hair and prevents it from growing back.
LESSON #2: COMBAT DRY & FLAKY SKIN ON YOUR FACE
Even if you’ve been moisturising your face religiously morning and night, your skin can still suffer from those pesky dry patches and flaky bits. Charmaine Sofia from the free Blackmores Naturopathic Advisory Service explains why: “During winter, our skin’s protective mechanisms can become depleted by cold weather, drying winds, and the use of heaters and electric blankets.” So what’s the solution? A supplement rich in zinc, vitamin A and E, and essential fatty acids.
“One of the best supplement combinations to help dull, dry skin in winter is Blackmores Bio Zinc in conjunction with Blackmores Evening Primrose Oil + Fish Oil (www.blackmores.com.au) to help maintain healthy, supple skin,” says Charmaine. Also, get exfoliating twice a week to slough away dead skin cells can help your skin absorb hydrating products better.

LESSON #3: DEAL WITH SCALY SKIN ON YOUR BODY
It’s not just your face that loses hydration in winter, your body also needs some care and attention. Your skin may be covered up with clothes, but that doesn’t mean its not losing moisture!
Give your bod some mid-winter love with nourishing and super-hydrating moisturisers such as Dove Intensive Nourishment Body Lotion for Extra Dry Skin or Natures Organics Australian Pure Kakadu Plum & Vitamin E Moisturiser. After showering, make an effort to squeeze a couple of pumps of moisturiser into your hand and slather your entire body before rugging up.
Do you suffer from any of these winter beauty issues? How do you manage skin dryness and body hair in winter?
Thanks for the wonderful tips!
