I’ve always found winter a bit of a struggle. Those long dark nights, cold winter mornings, and having to rug up each time I leave the house – there is certainly a reason I moved Down Under!
Originally from the UK, you would expect me to have a higher tolerance of winter, and let’s be honest it is not a patch on the sub zero temperatures and gloomy days experienced for 6 months of the year back home! However I find myself unable to take my mind off England at this time of year – my friends and family, music festivals, cider drinking in the local pub, and the long lazy summer evenings.
There are however a few British home comforts that keep me going through the Ozzy winter. Marmite on toast, tea made in my beloved yellow teapot, watching the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on late night television, and of course my favourite British beauty products!
Despite my winter blues, I can sense spring is around the corner and I know just how jealous my friends will be when I’m lounging on the beach in November, heading out to a string of BBQ’s, parties and festivals in my thongs, summer dress and golden tan. Roll on summer!
In the meantime, here are a few of my favourite UK brands…
Crabtree & Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations Revitalising Ultra Moisturising Body Butter – keeps my skin hydrated when I’m in and out of the office air conditioning each day and makes me feel pampered after a long hot bath in the evenings.
Andrew Collinge Complete Moisture 1 Minute Wonder Treatment – keeps my hair nourished, soft and hydrated through the winter months in a jiffy!
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder – this is a staple in my make-up bag and helps smooth over and even out my skin tone which is prone to red patches during the colder months.
