I Tried A Personalised Skin Care And Treatment Program For 90 Days And It Completely Transformed My Skin

For the last three years, my skin has been erratic. I’d say more consistently bad than good, but nonetheless unpredictable.

I’d self-diagnosed upwards of 20 times. Hormonal acne, fungal acne, allergies to dairy, allergies to alcohol, you name it, I had it. At least, I thought I had it.

I’d tried every product, ingredient, mask or method you could think of. However, the one thing I hadn’t tried? Being consistent.

So when I heard about the UltraCeuticals RVR 90, a personalised and structured skin care and treatment program, I knew I had to give it a chance.

What is the Ultraceuticals RVR 90?

What is the Ultraceuticals RVR 90?

The RVR 90 is a 90-day programme designed by Ultraceuticals to achieve real visible results. It involves three personalised professional treatments complemented by a complete at-home skin care regimen as prescribed by your facialist. Over the course of your journey, you’ll undergo an in-depth analysis of your skin and from there, be prescribed a range of corrective serums, eye creams, moisturisers, cleansers and masks according to your needs and goals.

During the course of the 90 days, your treatments are split up over three months. At the beginning of each session, your Ultraceuticals therapist will take you through an in-depth skin analysis which involves questions about your current regimen, history and lifestyle. After your one-on-one discussion with your therapist, progress photos are taken using the OBSERV skin analysis machine.

This tool captures your skin’s condition at both the surface level and far deeper. It allows for your therapist to monitor and track your skin’s oil levels, pigmentation, hydration, texture, melasma and any other skin irregularity. These steps are then repeated at your next session and evaluated to monitor your progress and accurately prescribe your next serum, or fill in any gaps you might be missing.

Following your analysis, it’s treatment time. Your therapist then performs a lengthy and luxurious facial which has been tailored to meet the needs that you’ve discovered during your initial conversation.

My Ultraceuticals RVR 90 experience…

**Spoiler alert** amazing. I found something I stuck to and something that worked. Very quickly after meeting Jess, (my assigned Ultraceuticals therapist who was magic), I was actually feeling calm about the direction my skin was going in. With someone who knew what they were doing, I felt secure in relinquishing control and trusting that the end result was going to be very effective in clearing my acne and setting my skin up for the future.

Month one:

As I entered my initial session, my primary concerns were hormonal acne and scarring, especially around my chin and jawline. Before kick-starting our first treatment, Jess took a round of images using the OBSERV analysis machine which identified redness, pigmentation, signs of ageing and dehydration across most of my face.

Following this, Jess performed a bespoke mandelic peel combined with the UltraCeuticals Ultra A Mild with a sonophoresis mask infusion. All of which are beneficial for oily, congested and problematic skin. Though undoubtedly all skin care and treatments take time, this one showed a visible difference immediately. My hormonal acne, which had been nothing short of red, angry and pulsing, was calm. The inflammation had gone down and I was glowing? Who knew.

Prescribed in my initial take home pack were the Ultraceuticals essentials products, which include a gentle cleanser, an SPF, eye cream and moisturiser. My corrective serum for month one was the Ultra A Serum Mild, an excellent introduction to retinol which I was to begin using on alternating nights before working up to every night.

Month two:

Just like most of the world is experiencing right now, the nasty flu hit us. Not me, but wonderful Jess, which meant my second session looked a little different than I had anticipated. Nevertheless, Jess prescribed me the next stage of my regimen from a germ-free distance and it was time to introduce the Ultra Clear Treatment Lotion. Anyone with acne will know, “Ultra Clear” anything was music to my ears.

As for my progress, I was really happy. As a result of the acne that was confined to my jawline and chin, I’d actually been neglecting the rest of my face. I wasn’t trying to hydrate, brighten, retexturise or target fine lines, I had only cared about zapping throbbing pimples and as a result, my entire complexion suffered. I was just so fixated on my chin. However, after a month of using the Ultra A Serum Mild, my skin became softer and brighter in a way I hadn’t seen before.

So, what was the Ultra Clear Treatment Lotion set to do for me? Blow my lingering acne out of the water, that’s what. OK, maybe not officially and maybe in a much gentler fashion but that’s the gist I got. This salicylic acid-enriched serum falls under the Ultra Clear range and works to fight existing congestion while preventing future congestion. Delicious.

Month three:

The final month came around quickly and I was not ready for it to end. To begin our session, we took another round of OBSERV images and compared them to those taken during our initial consultation. And there were improvements.

Jess performed another bespoke mask sonophoresis infusion. When you’ve got your eyes closed and the lights are off, it’s hard to get a clear picture of what’s going on. What you can feel, however is a light, totally painless shaving and buzzing feeling. As explained to me by Jess, the UltraSonophoresis machine uses an ultrasound technology to achieve an absorption rate that far exceeds what can be achieved via topical application. Basically, it’s pushing the product deep down below the surface and making magic happen.

Jess used this in month one and three during the cleansing phase as a thorough method for preparing the skin for treatment. Unfortunately, this wasn’t part of the take home pack, however, what was included was the Ultra A Intense Booster. Basically a more robust older sister of the Ultra A Mild.

Results:

When comparing the photos of my skin taken during my initial consultation to those taken during my final session, I was luminous in a way I never have been before. Though I still had minor hormonal breakouts which were related to switching over my contraception, the overall quality of my skin had transformed. My complexion was softer, less oily and significantly less red, particularly around my nose.

As much as this routine requires more discipline than my previous regimen, the results have proven to be well worth the extra effort. So what does my routine look like now? The morning includes a cleanser, mist and two serums. Then I have two different serums for night, plus one weekly hydration mask and one weekly clarifying mask. It’s a hardworking group of products that each play their own individual and important role.

One of the greatest key learnings I took away from this experience was consistency and patience. Chopping and changing does nothing for our skin.
