As you age, there’s a natural decrease in the essential fatty acids required to keep your skin cells functioning healthily and your complexion looking plump, smooth and radiant. As a result, your skin’s protective barrier function can weaken and your skin can become more prone to dehydration, sagging, lines and wrinkles, discolouration and uneven texture.
While you unfortunately can’t put a stop to this ageing process entirely, it doesn’t mean you can’t do your best to miminimse the appearance of skin maturation and age more gracefully.
One ingredient that can help you do just that is macadamia oil. It happens to be one of the richest sources of palmitoleic acid (also known as omega 7), which is an essential fatty acid found naturally in the skin. When massaged into your skin, the palmitoleic acid – along with the oleic and linoleic fatty acids also found in the oil – work in conjunction with your skin’s natural lipids to replenish your protective barrier and help protect against moisture loss.
This helps skin appear more plumped, hydrated and rejuvenated, and also assists in the reduction of redness and fine lines and wrinkles. Music to your ears? We thought so (and we guarantee your skin will love it, too!)
One particular macadamia oil we love is Thursday Plantation Macadamia Oil. The face and body oil has a non-greasy formulation that is 100 per cent natural, free from chemicals and parabens, gentle enough to use on sensitive skin and won’t clog your pores. Apply it daily on the face or body, to help restore hydration, minimise the appearance of fine lines, even out your skin tone and promote natural radiance. Furthermore, it’s infused with lavender oil, which is known for it’s calming and anti-redness properties. It can also help to rejuvenate tired-looking skin that’s been exposed to harsh environmental elements (think sun, wind and artificially heated/cooled environments), making it the perfect addition to your beauty regimen all year round.
So in a nutshell (see what we did just then?) if you want to help minimise the signs of ageing, we suggest you start considering macadamias for more than just your mouth!
Have you heard of macadamia oil as an anti-ageing ingredient? Is your skin showing the signs of ageing?
