Q: Does anyone else out there in BH land suffer from eczema and if so what products have you used that work? I think I have tried everything under the sun but my skin seems adjust to whatever good products I find and then I am back at square one. Does anyone else have this problem? – Chooky1
A: It’s often hard to know what to use to get rid of eczema, as there is generally no actual known cause for the skin irritation. While common triggers can vary from things like foods (such as nuts, wheat, additives, coffee, alcohol and wheat), environmental aggressors (like dust mites, pollens and spores), as well as chemicals, detergents and fragrances found in cosmetic and cleaning products, eczema can also be triggered by emotional and physical stress.
In terms of products that help to get rid of eczema, it’s probably not such a bad thing to have a few variations on-hand so you can change things up if your skin starts to ‘get used to’ one specific product (kind of like how you should change up your shampoos every now and then too!). Here are a few of our members’ most recommended eczema treatments…
Billie Goat Soap Plain Goat Soap
“My daughter had the most horrible eczema all over her body when she was younger. I tried so many creams and lotions and soaps. This was the only one that has worked and continues to work. It cleared up her eczema in no time and I used it in conjunction with the all over moisturiser. Its still the only thing I use at bath time and her eczema has not reappeared.” – Kady

Avène Trixera+ Selectiose Emollient Cream
“I suffer a lot from contact dermatitis as my hands are in and out of water. I had tried so many creams and steroid creams and was just not getting anywhere – they would barely improve. I started using this and the results were wonderful. I have never cleared my hands up so quickly from dermatitis. I now only use this when my hands just start to break out and can nip it in the bud.” – ski diva
