The eye of the beholder

The eye of the beholder

A UK study, conducted by Which?, has revealed that buying exxy eye creams isn’t really necessary as they don’t really work. Gasp.

Now amongst my girlfriends there are two schools of thought when it comes to the humble eye cream – one is if you’re not using it, you can wave goodbye to fresh skin as it’s all downhill from here. The other is if you use it, you’re a gullible fool – it doesn’t work, it’s all just pretty packaging and marketing fodder.

Umm. It’s hard for me to hear people beauty bashing – I struggle not to take it personally. But who can argue with stats?

The Which? study used women aged between 35 and 65 to test 12 anti-wrinkle eye treatments and found that none – yep, read it and weep ladies, nada – came close to living up to their claims of making the face “look visibly younger”.

In actual fact, the control product, Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser, outperformed some of the costly creams.

So what should we do? Well I say don’t give up hope, sure, I’ve tried a lousy cream or two in my time, but I’ve also tried some amazing ones. Right now I’m loving Good Skin Labs™ Eylipex Eye Lift + Circle Reducer – the dual system treatment features a day gel (that smoothes and lifts for a more radiant appearance) and a night balm (that helps recharge, reducing the appearance of dark circles and wrinkles).

What do you think? Have you found an eye cream that works well? Do you use one religiously or do you think it’s just a load of old codswallop?

Ps. Don’t forget it’s Daffodil Day today, have a gorgeous weekend beauties!
