Tessa Thompson’s fan base spans far and wide. Not only is she the face of Armani Beauty, but with a leading role in Thor, she’s also a major part of the Marvel Universe. So while you’d be justified in assuming she’s learnt physical stunts on the set of Thor and makeup tips while shooting Armani campaigns, it’s in fact been the dead opposite.
Tessa Thompson learnt these beauty hacks on the set of ‘Thor’…
First thing’s first, shooting for Marvel has taught Tessa a valuable lesson in the staying power of foundation (specifically her go-to, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk $105, Adore Beauty). “This is maybe not a sexything [but] I’ve gained more of an understanding of how makeup wears over a long day, in particular with Marvel because you’re sweating,” she told Harper’s BAZAAR.
So, what’s one way to avoid losing your makeup to a strenuous day? Well, according to Tessa, it’s all in the addition of moisture.
“After setting your makeup, it’s a good idea to spritz yourself — actually rose water is really great for that,” she said.
We’re big fans of hydrating face mists too, in particular: The La Mav® Rose Hydrating Mist ($39 at La Mav), Swisse Rosewater Hydrating Mist Toner ($14.99 at Chemist Warehouse) and Trilogy Hydrating Mist Toner ($25.99 at Chemist Warehouse).
But the beauty tips don’t end there. In fact, Tessa discovered one of the best skin care hacks from an unsuspecting co-star, Chris Hemsworth.
“If you want a very lovely sheen on skin on the body, the best thing is sprayed sunscreen,” she revealed. “If you’re outside, it’s also very good because obviously that gives you sun protection. But especially on film, spraying on sunscreen reads very beautifully. I actually learned that from Chris Hemsworth, so I have him to thank.”
Are we even surprised? Trust the Aussies to come through with the sun safety. Proud.
What do you think about this beauty hack? Would you take beauty advice from Chris Hemsworth? We sure would.
Yeah I guess I’d give it a try
Always trust an aussie I say 😛
Good tip, thanks for sharing.
I’ve tried spray sunscreens and am not really a fan. 🙁
no I am not interested in spray sunscreens after reading the coverage article in BH.
Agreed, I do still own some that I need to use, so at least I can use them for this hack
I use a rosewater mist on my face. It’s so soothing
Yes I do too but didn’t realise it helped set foundation
Love Chris’s beauty skin hack! haha! 🙂
For my body that is, not my face – not a fan of oily shiny face!
great tips and I love rose water and didn’t realise it would be so useful
Thanks for the sprayed sunscreen tips.
Spray sunscreens are okay for top-ups but not go-tos.
I see Ultra Violette has a new one, it’s called Preen Screen, and its a mist for top ups, but of course, only after you have already used sunscreen
I love Ultra Violette, will take a look
I hadn’t considered how practical they’d be for top-ups – what a great idea!
Interesting. I usually use my daily hydration spray after my morning shower & at the end of the day before applying moisturiser. I think I will give this a go.
I just sprayed one arm with the spray sunscreen hubby uses on his head. I then had to do the other arm because it looked dry and dull compared to the first one. I wouldn’t use it on my face though.
I love mists, setting sprays and hydrating sprays, they wake you up too
I take sprays to work too, they are awesome
Gotta trust an Aussie with sunscreen advice!
Although I wouldn’t trust spray on sunscreen to provide much protection on a day out at the beach.
It’s interesting to read what other people use. I don’t know what spray on sunscreen would be like on my face.
Rosewater is a good tip
Love the addition of different price points
I dislike sunscreens that leave a sheen – they make me look sweaty & gross.
Same. Hate the greasy feeling too.
like a setting agent on top really, it makes sense
haha, nah. Can not stand sunscreens in general, let alone sprays
Haven’t tried Setting Spray after makeup, not sure about Spray on Sunscreen.
not really tries the spray sunscreens before…
I have tried a spray on S/S and really liked it. However, I sprayed it onto my hands and applied it. Sprays are too hit and miss wrt to S/S
I don’t think coverage is as good with spray sunscreens
Don’t like shiny looking skin personally
A great one to try and love the look of the products above too.
I don’t know that it would matter to me? I’m rarely photographed when out and about.
I haven’t tried spray sunscreen before.
I love Rose water great recommendations
I just bought the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk as a treat. I will be trying that trick!
