Hands up if you’ve become a bit of a beauty slob over the past few months?
I’m right there with you.
I know I have the prods and tips to master my beauty look in winter, but this diagram pretty much sums up my attitude…
Sound familiar? Well, don’t lose heart. Together, we can get ourselves out of this beauty rut!
With the winter chill almost gone, now’s the time to look towards the sunnier seasons, and get ready for spring.
Simply follow these six steps to emerge looking primped and prettier than ever…
1. Treat your feet
One of the best things about spring is getting to wear sandals again – but dry, scaly feet aren’t so sexy. To get soft soles, go all out with a foot treatment such as the Clarisonic Pedi Foot Transformation System or 1000 Hour Softsole Exfoliating Foot Peel. No, it’s not the most glamorous beauty step, but you’ll be so glad you did it when those calluses are gone!
bh tip: To finish the job, apply one of the 10 best foot creams, pop on some socks and hit the hay to wake up to oh-so-soft feet.
2. Condition your cuticles
Are your cuticles looking a little cracked? Every girl should have cuticle oil in her beauty arsenal. Try CND Creative Nail Design SolarOil or PHYT’S Huile Ongles & Cuticles Treatment Oil. Once your hands look a good as new again, paint your nails in one of these 10 tan-enhancing tones.
3. Refresh your skin
The cold winter air combined with heavy moisturiser has probably left your skin looking dull and congested. To brighten it up in one simple step, try a micro peel such as the Danné Montague-King Micro Peel or AHAVA Mineral Botanic Micro-Peeling Lily & Guarana. This will help to remove any dead cells on the skin surface, revealing a fresh new layer underneath.
bh tip: If you’re serious about overhauling your skin, consider multi-masking (the latest skincare trick dermatologists are loving). Alternatively, give one of these effective at-home skincare remedies a go.
4. Smooth your bod
When you finally peel off those jeans, you may be shocked by the rough, dry state of your pins. To get them – and the rest of your bod – smooth and silky again, use a good old-fashioned loofah or dry body brush such as Manicare Dry Body Brush to scrub that dead skin away. Then, slather on a generous amount of body cream (we love the The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Polynesia Monoi Body Balm and delicious-smelling Vanessa Megan Cocoa Coconut Body Cream).
bh tip: Apply your moisturiser straight after your shower – your slightly damp skin will absorb it better.
5. Revive your hair
Now that your skin’s sorted, move on to your hair. After shampooing and conditioning as usual, coat your strands with a hydrating hair mask such as The TIGI Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey Mask or evo the great hydrator moisture mask. For best results, skip the heat and let your locks air-dry.
bh tip: If you don’t have time for a full-on hair mask, pop on a leave-in treatment instead.
6. Pretty up your make-up
Pastels and spring go together like mac and cheese, so swap your vampy winter lippie for a lighter, brighter hue like Maybelline New York SuperStay 14hr Lipstick in ‘Perpetual Peony’. Prefer to let your peepers do the talking? A eyeshadow is just the ticket. Try NATIO Heavenly Eyes Mineral Eyeshadow Trio in ‘Berry Devine’.
bh tip: Check out bh’s Carli’s blog for how to wear purple eyeshadow in a subtle way.
