When we picture Sonia Kruger, we picture her poised, elegant telly-hosting stance, bright, shining smile, beautiful makeup looks and of course, her incredibly perfected bronzed skin. The question of ‘how does her tan look so naturally glossy and glowing?!’ has plagued us for years. So when we finally learnt her secrets, we just knew we had to share them with you!
Sonia has been using none other than the Aussie-made, naturally derived Three Warriors tan to get that gorgeous enviable glow. Yep, the cat is officially out of the bag. But not only has Sonia been loving the tan, she’s secretly been working behind the scenes for years to create her very own collaborative product with the team.
So, let’s find out more about the partnership and learn more about her tanning tips…
Sonia Kruger Tan Partnership
So, we now know that Three Warriors is Sonia’s go to tan brand. It’s understandable; the brand focusses on all things natural and nourishing. But what we didn’t know was that Sonia was working hard behind-the-scenes to bring out her very own face tan-meets-serum. Allow us to introduce: Radiant Complexion Serum By Sonia Kruger ($80 at Three Warriors).
And because we were desperate to find out more, we caught up with Sonia to find out the inside goss around how the partnership came to be…
So, tell us, how did your partnership with Three Warriors come about?
“I was working on The Voice when my makeup artist used Three Warriors Self-Tan Mousse on me. The result was instant, it didn’t smell, it didn’t transfer onto clothes, it was everything I needed,” Sonia shares. So basically, it was love at first sight (or use, we guess). But like we said, Sonia “love(s) that it’s Australian made with local ingredients, organic and basically the products are better than anything else (she’s) tried”. So when Three Warriors got in touch, she “jumped at the opportunity to work together”.
We know Three Warriors has a focus on natural ingredients, is that something you also aim for in your skin care?
“Absolutely. I grew up using tanning products because I was a competitive, professional dancer. I have literally tried everything—the good, the bad, and the orange.” Ouch, we’ve all been there! For Sonia, “it’s important to [her[ that [she’s] using natural ingredients on [her] skin, protecting it every day without compromising on colour.” We’re so here for natural, nourishing and 10/10 tan colour.
Sonia Kruger Tanning Tips
What are your tips for tanning hands, feet and elbows?
As we know all too well, those three body parts are trickiest, and Sonia agrees. Her top tips? “Put a bit of moisturiser on first”, as hydration is always key people, then use a “tanning brush, which is great for buffing and blending”. Her last wise words of sage feet tanning wisdom? “Try to avoid putting on thongs, sandals or shoes while the tan is still drying on your feet or it can look a little, shall we say….artistic”.
Do you ‘tantour’? And if so, do you have any tips or thoughts on the trend?
ICYMI, ‘tantouring’ is the joining of forces between contouring and tanning. Yep, it’s the effortless bronzing step helping you to skip another makeup step. And Sonia is totally for it (with the help of her incredible makeup artist Simone Forte), even calling it “makeup magic”. If you’ve not tried it, it’s “definitely worth giving a try”. You heard the lady, it’s time to tan our faces.
What does your ‘week in tan’ look like?
It’s a universally accepted truth that Thursday night is tan night. So, we wanted to see if the celebs are just like that with their tan schedule, and as it turns out, yep, they are. Here’s what Sonia’s week looks like ‘in tan’: “Wednesday I exfoliate at night in the shower, Thursday tan day, Friday is the fun day and then I am ‘good to glow’ until the following Wednesday”.
How often do you have to top up her tan?
So, we know that Thursday is the day to tan, but how about any glow-getting top ups along the way? “Once a week usually does the trick”, she says, noting that the important part is getting “the glow on” for the weekend. But if she does need to top it up at all, she uses the Three Warriors Gradual Tan ($34.95 at Three Warriors) to be able to build up the colour.
