You expect a meal at a restaurant to be cooked by a chef and medicine to be formulated by scientists and medical experts, so skin care made by skin doctors sounds pretty standard, right?
Well, not necessarily. Some of our favourite brands are the brainchilds of celebrities, who have spent half their life in the makeup chair, or business savvy entrepeneurs who simply saw a gap in the market.
That’s not to say those brands aren’t remarkable and at least consult experts – because, they are (we’re huge fans of Glossier and Summer Fridays, just to name a few).
However, when facing chronic skin conditions, sometimes you just want a product that is guaranteed to go beyond pretty packaging and persuasive marketing. And with dermatologist-founded brands, you’re in pretty safe hands when it comes to wrinkle-fighting, anti-blemish, and all-round glowing skin.
Here are some of our favourites:
SkinCeuticals
Murad
Dr. Dennis Gross
Lancer
Perricone MD
IT Cosmetics

Have you tried any of these brands? Are you more trusting of skin care backed by dermatologists?
I hear you **Meedee**. I have a long list of brands I'd like to try. Skin Doctors, skin physics, the ordinary. And it seems that more boutique brands emerge every day.
I'm about to try a product by Skinceuticals – I have a little sunblotch just above my lip on one side that I've just noticed and I'm hoping that by using a very high spf that the blotch will fade because of lack of UV light.
Interesting – years ago a dermatologist told me wash in sorbelene cream, instead of soap and use same on skin to moisturise after shower. A surgeon recently told me she does this too. I use Aveeno on my skin, and honestly, can see no difference to the $400+ skin care regime 'O Cosmetics' I was using when I had a job!
So many wonderful choices in skin care brands, it's hard to know which ones to try, I want them all lol
Periccone MD is my luxe concealer (it has 30+ SPF). It Cosmetics CC Cream 30+SPF is also my luxe fave.
I have only ever tried Murad which was good
I haven't used any of these brands, I'm sure they're lovely, but out of my price range
I have tried a Murad moisturiser. It was absolutely gorgeous. I’d be more than happy to try any of these.
Have just started using The Skin Doctors anti-aging formula and serum will check out how it goes for a couple of weeks.
The Skin Care Products above look great as well will certainly put them on the to Try List.
I used to use a lot of perricone but now I just use the no make up make up. It's great!
I've used the IT CC cream and really like it. All these products look like a treat.
The only brand I've tried is It Cosmetics but only the CC cream and concealer, not their skincare.
I’d love to try all these (BH, put me on a Trial!) but not really in my budget.
I have tried a product of there's a while ago – have to see if I still have that little bottle around here somewhere!
Haven't tried any of these brands yet.
ooo Murad!
Ive not tried any of these brands. Im finding there are so many products out there but not enough lifetime to try them all.
I've heard of a few but haven't tried any yet, SkinCeuticals is on my to try list
I have not tried any of these brands, but good to know that they have the science and knowledge behind them.
Love Dr Dennis Gross products! The Alpha Beta moisturiser is amazing.
I love the first three brands and recommend their products
There is a murad product I have wanted to try for a while.
Dr Dennis Gross is amazing! I recently watched a live with them with Mecca! It was very interesting.
I like the Dr Dennis Gross skin wipes but they are quite expensive. I love IT cosmetics CC cream as it does not break my skin out.
I've got some murad products but yet to try them I hear they've amazing.
There's also Dr Sam Bunting's products in the UK:

I have heard good reviews on all these products
Will have to try these brands!
I have not tried any of these brands, definitely would like to. There are some brands I have heard of and others that are new to me.
Murad and Dr dennis Gross are great. Skinceuticals, pass. The rest didn't try
This is good to know. I'd previously thought that the use of MD etc was gimmicky.
Haven't tried any of these and will rely on reviews before investing in any.
I would love to try these brands but the price of some of these…
I hear you **Meedee**. I have a long list of brands I'd like to try. Skin Doctors, skin physics, the ordinary. And it seems that more boutique brands emerge every day.
I havent tried any of these although I've heard of some of them. Some of them are quite pricey and I am unlikely to purchase them.
I've never tried any of these, but would like to. If they are developed by dermatologists I'd have more faith that they would actually be effective.
I haven't heard of some of these. Would be good to know the price of all, not just a few.
I haven't tried any of these. Some of them I haven't heard of before.
Too many brands to try, too little time, but next on my list has to be Murad!!
Haven't tried a lot of these… They sound amazing though!!!
Skinceuticals is way too expensive for my liking. I heard good stuff about Murad.
I like these brands but they are a little hard on the budget though
I love all of these skincare products
I am not familiar with these products.
If anyone knows skin, it's a dermatologist.
Good point, especially given the current climate.
Cosmeceutical brands have superior formulation and I want it all.
I haven't tried any of these, would love to do so!!
Never would've thought Murad was one of them. Always seemed to be quite commercial.
I have reported the spam posts below by Wendychapman and SueBrandy on the "SERIAL SPAM MEMBER ON BH" thread.
I'm about to try a product by Skinceuticals – I have a little sunblotch just above my lip on one side that I've just noticed and I'm hoping that by using a very high spf that the blotch will fade because of lack of UV light.
So many new formulas being developed and good to see some actual professionals in the field of skin care making a contribution.
Pity about these SPAMMERS dropping in on all topics. BH do something about this.
