The life of a supermodel might seem like a breeze, but the truth is their jam-packed schedules, layers of make-up and constant hair heat styling can wreak havoc on their beauty and health.
To find out more, we caught up with the incredibly down-to-earth Australian supermodel and Ambassador for Priceline, Samantha Harris. We discover how she maintains her glow and the beauty products that take top priority in her routine. Prepare to take notes, beauties.
When it comes to beauty, what’s the hardest thing about being a supermodel?
Maintaining who you are and feeling like you always have to be healthy can be quite challenging. If I’m shooting, there’s always healthy snacks available, but at family events, that’s when it’s tough and I just want to join the party and eat what I like. When I go out with my friends and they order pasta, I tend to get very envious and think ‘Oh, I’ll just have my meat and salad or veggies’ [laughs].

How do you ensure your skin and hair remain in their best condition possible while you’re working?
With my hair, I get a treatment once a week on Fridays, as well as a blow-dry. I just try to keep it as healthy as possible. During the week I tend to put coconut oil through my hair and leave it overnight to try and hydrate it. When it comes to caring for my skin, I like to take [the vitamin] silica [as my] hair, skin and nails supplement, and I also take a multivitamin, and make sure I remove all of my make-up and apply sunscreen every day. I’ve got it covered – I do it all!

How do you deal with walking in high heels and the foot pain that comes with it?
I always wear Scholl Party Feet Invisible Gel Cushions but unfortunately they don’t get rid of the pain. I think high heels are just one of those things that I go ‘Look, I know they’re going to hurt my feet and they look nice, but I’m going to be in a lot of pain!’ [laughs].

What’s your best advice for keeping fit and healthy while you’re travelling for work?
I always take my gym gear with me with my fingers crossed in my mind that I’ll have time [to work out]. If I don’t have time, I’ll make sure I’m eating super healthily, but at the end of the day I don’t worry too much. If I can fit it in, I will, otherwise I’ll just step it up when I get home.
What do you look forward to doing the most when you have downtime?
I just like relaxing. Just sitting at home and watching TV – I know that sounds really boring! I love coming home, putting my pajamas on and doing nothing.
What are your best on-the-go beauty tips?
I need some party feet.
