We often get asked what kind of red lip colour suits different skin tones – and the answer isn’t always straightforward. While it can be said that fairer tones should generally opt for a blue-based red (that is, a really rich fire engine red) and more olive skins go for more of an orange red (somewhat warmer, with a hint of orange or pink), it definitely does depend on a few variables.
Take Miss Seyfried for instance, pictured here at the London premiere of her new flick, Little Red Riding Hood. She’s got sultry lined eyes intact, and a slick of a bright orange/red hue on her lips – normally perfect for those with more olive skin tone.
I know, I know…she’s breaking all of the beauty rules! Is she mad? No, she’s simply a beauty rebel – and she knows that her light eyes are her ticket to pulling off the warmer red hue. You see, the blue/green in her eyes and the warm orange tinge on her lips complement each other to a tee – even with the mix of blonde hair and lighter skin.
I have to say, it’s show-stopping results like this that make me glad there are beauty rules to be broken – the girl is dynamite!
