When you think of Pamela Anderson, we bet the blonde bombshell that took over the screens and magazines of the ‘90s is what comes to mind. But after being a totally enviable beauty icon for decades, Pamela Anderson has ditched her signature makeup look for a bare face.

The smoked-out, soft-grunge ‘90s looks synonymous with the screen siren are back in style, but Pamela’s new aesthetic is entirely her own, proving she still has that rebellious streak.

Why did Pamela Anderson stop wearing makeup?

While it’s no longer news at this point that Pamela Anderson walks the red carpet without makeup, maybe you didn’t know why she stopped wearing makeup in the first place.

In a 2023 interview with ELLE, Pamela shared that she decided to ditch makeup after the death of her close friend and long time makeup artist Alexis Vogel in 2019.

“She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup,” she explained to the publication.

What skincare does Pamela Anderson use?

She’s long been a supporter of clean beauty brands, opting for natural and even homegrown products. But the biggest question Pamela has been asked for decades is if she’ll ever do a beauty collection? Especially given her stance on the anti-ageing skin care industry.

In January of 2024, Pamela confirmed that she was partnering with the vegan and cruelty-free beauty brand Sonsie Skin. “I’m glad I kind of held out this long and really found the right connection”, the co-founder told WWD, reiterating just how important it was for her to put her name to a brand that aligned with her environmentalist interests.

But Pamela isn’t just anotehr celebrity putting her name to a brand that she doesn’t use. Sonsie was responsible for The Last Showgirl actress’ red carpet skin prep prior to the 2025 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. In fact, the brand’s simple but effective skin care regimen is all Pamela ever uses before the red carpet.

If you love getting a behind the scenes glimpse into celebrities glam routines, we suggest keeping an eye on Sonsie’s Instagram on Awards show days. Before the SAG Awards for example, Pamela shared an intimate flat lay of her routine splayed out on her bed, and (surprise, suprise) Sonsie’s Multi Moisture Mask ($91 from Sonsie), Super Serum ($122 from Sonsie),Cleansing Mousse ($61 from Sonsie), and Basic Balm ($42 from Sonsie) were all included in her skin prep routine.

Everything you need to know about Sonsie Skin

Sonsie launched in 2023 with an ethos that their products go beyond just healthy skin — believing that outward health is intrinsically linked with inner wellbeing.

However, it wasn’t 2024 that Sonsie Skincare’s founder, Marie von Behrens-Felipe, found the perfect partner to share the brand’s journey with.

Sonsie Skin’s succinct range includes three consciously-created skin care products that aim to restore balance, hydration and radiance.

Sonsie’s Multi Moisture Mask ($91 from Sonsie) is an invisible face mask that’s rich in skin nourishers like glycerin, hyaluronic acid and antioxidant-rich prickly pear.

The Sonsie Super Serum ($122 from Sonsie) boasts a gentle, hydrating and radiance-enhancing plant oil complex, as well as soothing niacinamide and mountain pepper extract.

While, the Sonsie Cleansing Mousse ($61 from Sonsie) cleanses impurities without disrupting the skin’s natural moisture barrier.

The products can be purchased separately or in a convenient Skin Essentials Bundle ($243 from Sonsie Skin).

  1. I love, love, love her hair in the top photo, but do feel that she looks a little washed out without makeup. A little lippy and eye products would look great on her.

  2. I remember watching some show all about Pamela now and how she has ditched the make-up. I honestly didn’t recognise her until she spoke when watching. She certainly looks totally different now with any make-up on. Once upon a time, I would always just wear mascara and foundation at home but as I age, I don’t. Good on her but if I go out, I do love to wear make-up.
