New York based fashion designer, Norma Kamali, is not only incredibly talented in the wardrobe department but also within the wellness space. In fact, she even opened one of the very first wellness cafes in the USA, and recently, she revealed how she looks (and feels) so damn good at age 74.
Talking to the goop Beauty Closet podcast, Norma says she attributes her youthful apperance to leading a clean lifestyle.

Referring to alcohol as the ‘anti-pretty drug’, Norma leads an alcohol-free, clean lifestyle where she also consumes a diet free from gluten and dairy.
However, there is one particular ingredient that’s just as hallowed to Norma, as Windex is to Papou in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. And that is: olive oil.
“I know everything about olive oil. It is the safest, best fat I can think of. I consume it every day. It can clean your liver. If you drink too much, olive oil. If you need to go to the bathroom, olive oil,” said Norma, noting that the benefits can also extend to your sex life. And that’s not all…

Olive oil benefits for HAIR
When it comes to your hair, olive oil boasts an impressive list of mane-loving vitamins including A and E as well as omega-3 fatty acids.
Applying olive oil directly to your strands will moisturise and then help to seal in that moisture.
It will also encourage hair growth by removing any sebum build-up and protecting the hair’s keratin.

Abundance of whole foods only (fruits of the plants, nuts/seeds i.e. fruits, some leafy greens, flowers at times). Do have olives, but whole fruits only. Not a fan of drinking oils.

My Mum passed away aged 77 and she didnt have a single wrinkle on her face. She put it down to staying out of the sun and using nivea and olay products for most of her life.

I do include olive oil in my cooking and use it often in salad dressings.
I know that quite a few good cleansing oils have olive oil as an ingredient. It can be mildly comedogenic for some people though.
I use olive oil in the kitchen but haven’t used it elsewhere, maybe I should try it on my hair and skin – but only a little bit to start with. I definitely can’t imagine putting a spoonful of oil in my mouth.
