Imagine if instead of making our New Year’s resolutions slightly intoxicated at 11.55pm on December 31st, we actually had to swear them in like a courtroom scene on TV. Sure, we swear to stick by these resolutions, all the resolutions and never stray from the resolutions… It might end up holding us to some unreasonable standards (because we know no one actually wants to run 10 kms everyday). But whether we be legally binded to, or inebriated while making our 2024 New Year’s resolutions, we still are hoping to set some totally achievable health-based resolutions.
So, get your pen and paper out (or your notes app) because these are the seriously simple resolutions we think you’ll actually want to stick to…
New Year Resolution Ideas
#1 / Take your vitamins
Kicking it off with a very important PSA, we really don’t get enough vitamins from our everyday diet and lifestyle. And to make sure we keep ourselves at peak health for 2024 (it’s going to be our year, we’re sure of it), we’re making sure we see our doctors to figure out what vitamins we need to be adding to our routine. An area you may not have thought about for vitamins? Your bone health, luckily for you we’ve got a few tips and tricks up our sleeves. Ostelin Calcium & Vitamin D3 Tablets ($9.99 at Chemist Warehouse) are conveniently chewable tablets that work to boost your calcium and vitamin D levels 9o support bone strength!).
#2 / Slap on some sunscreen
The desperate need for sun safety is at an all time high this time of year. We’re back to the (now extended) days of slip, slop, slap. Staying out of the harsh UV rays (as a hat and some shade will help) is step two; yeah, we jumped ahead. Step one however is making sure you’re applying sunscreen every single day. Yep, you think that quick dash to the shops can’t hurt but you’d be wrong. Not only will applying (and re-applying) sunscreen work to protect you from the sun, but it’s also a great tool in our aging gracefully belt. The Hamilton Sensitive Lotion SPF50+ ($16.99 at Chemist Warehouse) is a fast-absorbing, fragrance-free formula designed to offer both UVA and UVB broad spectrum protection.
#3 / Make time to unwind
It feels like an understatement to say that the last few years have been a bit full-on. We’re still processing the fact that 2019 wasn’t last year. But before the existential dread kicks in, we’re implementing unwind time. And while there’s no such thing as a quick fix in the world of skin care, there definitely is a quick unwind fix. Popping on the Skinstitut Quick-Fix Anti-Ageing Sheet Mask ($36.75 at Adore Beauty), which so happens to be dripping in anti-aging goodness will wind back not only the years, but also the stress of the day.
#4 / Take care of your skin
Sure, this resolution could come in all different shapes and sizes, and of course take from it what you will. However, 2024 will be the year of the double cleanse if you ask us. Yes it may seem arduous and inconsequential, but that second cleanse is the secret to refreshed, renewed skin. The first step in our cleansing routine is of course an oil based cleanser (think a thick luscious balm). The second? The new addition to our nightly cleansing ritual is an oh-so-gentle foam cleanser. The E45 Face Foaming Cleanser ($12.99 at Chemist Warehouse) is great for lifting away any leftover impurities, and adding a cloud-like softness to skin.
#5 / Serious slumber incoming
Let’s take note from Dakota Johnson getting a whopping 14 hours of sleep and aim to head to bed that little bit earlier. Sure the concept of falling asleep is wild (we’ll pretend to be asleep, until we are asleep), but anything to extend our nightly slumber, right? What about reaching for the soothing, sleep-inducing scents of lavender and chamomile? The In Essence Sleep Essential Oil Mist ($32.95 at In Essence) sounds pretty soothing to us, we can already feel our eyelids getting heavier…
Told you, these resolutions are totally achievable. Sleeping and relaxing, a piece of cake! And you’ll get the joy of knowing that you’re doing your body so much good for taking these steps to a healthier you. And it probably doesn’t hurt that you already know come NYE 2024 you’ll be able to humbly brag about achieving all five of your resolutions. Bring on 2024!
