Gone are the days when building a natural skin care routine was difficult or costly. Today, you can easily reach your glow goals with a range of natural and sustainable products that are just as kind to your bank account as they are on the planet.
Just like natural perfumes and natural deodorants, a natural skin care routine will come down to personal preference. But if you’re looking for a good place to start, we’ve rounded up some top picks for an easy everyday regimen.
Step 1: Makeup removal
$8.80 at Big W
We say: If you like wearing makeup, a double cleanse is essential for making sure all dirt and residue is removed from your skin at the end of the day. These pads can be paired with any makeup remover or micellar water to gently wipe away mascara, foundation and more. And when you’re done? Pop them in the wash ready to use again. We love a waste-less option.

Step 2: Cleanse
$9.99 at Chemist Warehouse
We say: If your skin is dry or sensitive, a milky formula is a great option for a second cleanse. It will help to clear away impurities without drying out or disturbing the skin barrier.
You say: “This cleanser has been amazing on my sensitive skin. It is very smooth and creamy in texture which makes a little product go a long way. The smell is also divine. I wish I could find a fragrance that smells like this. It is not harsh on your skin at all & has cleared my skin up over the last 2 weeks of daily use. I couldn’t recommend this product enough to anyone of all skin types.” – Laalalaaala

Step 3: Serum
$24.99 at Priceline
We say: You can still reap the rewards of active ingredients when following a natural skin care routine. This serum contains a bio-marine blend of sea algae, hyaluronic acid and maize complex to deeply rehydrate a parched complexion. A real glass skin hero, if you ask us.
You say: “I’ve noticed coming up to winter my skin has been dry, so I bought this due to the promise of deep hydration. A smooth texture, I used one pump of the product and applied to my face and neck. I love the fresh scent, and my skin is noticeably more hydrated and soft. I bought this on special, but even at full price is good value for money.” – Peta908

Step 4: Moisturiser
$19.95 at plunketts.com.au
We say: Speaking of brighter skin, this lightweight lotion blends vitamin E and C with rosehip oil to help restore luminosity. It can be used both day and night to moisturise and visibly refresh a tired complexion. Sold!
You say: “I would use this in the morning after cleansing my face and while my skin was just lightly damp. The lotion was a good consistency which made it easy to absorb into the skin. My skin felt hydrated and it didn’t feel greasy. I have been using it for over a week and a half and I have already noticed my skin looking slightly brighter. Skin tone and acne scars haven’t changed but this could possibly change overtime.” – Miss19

Step 5: Face oil
$20.99 at Chemist Warehouse
We say: If you like to layer your moisturiser with a facial oil, nothing beats rosehip. Combine its already impressive antioxidant and skin-repairing benefits with vitamin C and your skin will have no chance but to glow by morning.
You say: “ My skin loves this product. It has really helped to smooth out my skin on my forehead where I have stress/worry lines as well as certain light crows feet around my eyes. The more I use this, the more those lines disappear! The formula is light and runny, but does absorb well and fast into the skin.” – Candyfairy

Step 6: Sunscreen (in the morning)
$49.95 at skino2.com.au
We say: No morning skin care routine is complete without a face sunscreen. This non-greasy, natural mineral SPF has been made with all skin types in mind, featuring a balancing and calming formula that wears well under makeup.
You say: “On application to the skin it feels quite wet and looks shiny. However what I found interesting was that after around 10 minutes it completely looks quite matte and dry On my skin. It didn’t make me look greasy or oily which I appreciate as a oily girl. I do find it also gave me a kind of matte poor bluring effect.” – Ray_jay

Step 7: Lip care
$4.99 at Chemist Warehouse
We say: There are two people in this world – those who apply lip balm every hour and those who forget about it completely until their lips crack. We’re not saying either is right but we’re letting you know that you’ve got a natural choice in Carmex.

Step 8: Body moisturiser
$13 at neatfeat.com
We say: A good natural skin care routine will always extend to the body. Keep this unique water-based lotion on hand to prevent dry, cracked skin – specifically on the feet, hands, and legs.
You say: “I have very dry skin and its even worse in the summer, and if I wear sandals or flip fops I am in real trouble. But this Neat Feet Moisturiser works miracles on my feet. The cream is gentle and soaks in well, no leaving a soggy mess. I love the container as it makes it so much easier to apply, just small squeeze on each foot and a gently rub and your off and ready to go.” – Shaper

Have you tried any of these natural products? Would you try a natural skin care routine?
Yes , Carmex lip balm. I do like natural products.
Like RayJay, I’ve also found that the Skin02 Mineral Sunscreen is different and quite matte after 10 m or so after application. I like it more now than when I tried it the first few times.
An exfoliator is also a good option!
All these steps. I worry that I am putting too much on my skin? Is this possible?
Ha Ha -Normap -I think cleanse tone and moisturiser are enough for me to cope with and of course sunscreen
I cleanse, serum and moisturiser and eye cream and lip balm.
I agree, thanks for the reply
I feel like it is a lot.
I also wonder who has the time?
I have two little ones and I don’t even get to drink a hot cup of tea anymore.
So many products to think about. I try to do my best.
I love natural based skincare routine lately. My skin is so glowy and juicy.
For me, nothing beats a combination of ascorbic acid and niacinamide for glowy skin.
I like the look of the swispers cleansing pads, I haven’t seen them around yet. I’ll have to look out for them.
and they are reusable which I like too
Love to see more sustainable products.
Absolutely the way it should be.
Agreed!
I have the lip balm but that’s all I’ve tried from the above products. Would like to give the Skin02 SPF a go.
I need a new lip balm so might try that one.
I like to keep my skincare routine simple if I can.
I haven’t tried any of these but would be happy to use any /all of them
I’ve got some reusable cleansing pads, not Swisspers, but they look grubby even after washing it puts me off a bit
Thanks for the article. I like to use natural skin care and it’s great to have some recommendations of good ones to use.
Ooh, I’d love to try that sunscreen!
Me too. Sone of the other products are nice too.
I use a few of these products .
Just retinol and sunscreen for me at the moment and my skin is not too bad.
I agree with that. You just get a next level glow to your face with retinol.
Too much. I can’t be bothered. Serum SPF morning. Retinol and mosturiser night
Natural also means shorter shelf life. Unstable ingredients. No thank you.
Oh, is this true, I never knew that. Thanks for the advise.
Love this! I need a serum and cleanser. Does any have suggestions? X
Carmex make the best lip balms!
Plunketts brightening facial lotion is so good.
I was looking at that -Glad to hear it will be worth a try
I’m trying to be more mindful with using more natural products in my routine, however, sometimes it is hard with serums and sunscreens.
I’m starting to prefer skincare without mineral oil but I’ve found that natural is not always better.
The Plunkett’s vitamin c cream is excellent.
Using a proper skincare routine you can get nice skin.
so many steps now, i remember years ago Cliniques 3 step system was all you needed
I need to give some of these products a go, my skin is dull af!
I follow these steps. But don’t use both serum and face oil together.
Neither do I.
I always thought it was one or the other.
Definitely need to buy some Swisspers® Reusable Eco Cleansing Pads and some Micellar Water.
Yes I’ve used the Carmex naturally in watermelon.
Whatever works for you is the best
I can never find the Swisspers Reusable Eco Cleansing Pads at any of my local stores, I might have to get them online now that beauty heaven says I should!
Love that the Swisse reuseable pads come with a mesh bag to wash them in. I’ve been using the Garnier reuseable make up remover pads.
As in the mesh bag, you can put straight into the washing machine?
Do makeup fall off the pad and onto your clothes?
I’ve just moved to re-usable cleansing pads rather than disposable. I feel a lot better about it. Only a small change, but enough small changes eventually add up.
I’ve not tried these reusable pads but i’m loving the ones that I picked up in the rewards room recently.
I haven’t tried any of these items specifically, only other products in their range, i.e., Nivea naturally good organic oat and nourishment body lotion.
I always wonder I I am removing all of my makeup properly
If I am removing all of my makeup properly
Sorry typo
Natural is best; there seems to be many steps here
some great product suggestions I’d probably buy
I find I need to use Lip care all the time. My lips seem to get so dry but after using lip balm they are fine.
Some really nice products here.
I haven’t tried any of these products.
