According to the experts a new baby typically means 400 to 750 hours less sleep for us poor parents during the first year. Jeez, that means careful consideration when looking for make-up-bag essentials and thus brightening beauties are a must.
So it’s no surprise that when L’Occitane sent its Immortelle Brightening Essence, Brightening Moisture Cream and Brightening Water into bh HQ for one lucky staff member to trial I quickly put myself forward as a reliable reviewer (no need to thank me, it’s all in the name of the job!).
I love the excitement of trialing a new regime and L’Occitane is such a lovely brand. But eagerness aside, let’s talk results…
Now I won’t lie to you I didn’t actually get around to trying the Brightening Water (apologies L’Occitane) as I think a two-part skin regime is enough for any new mum to embark on. So on a freshly cleansed face (I splashed a bit of water over my face and wiped dry with one of the kid’s towels) I applied the Brightening Essence, which is a lightweight serum that’s not heavily fragranced, felt cooling and spread on very easily. Initial thoughts: like the feel on my skin and just the fact that I’m using a serum makes me feel very grown up!
Next up I applied the Brightening Moisture Cream, which is rich in texture but actually feels quite light on the skin (described on the box as a gel-cream texture!). Before popping on any make-up I always leave my skin to dry a few moments so I dash around the house picking up odd toys and clothes the kids have left lying around. When I return to the bathroom and look in the mirror I notice my skin definitely looks brighter – perkier!
In light of the fact I knew I’d be writing this mini review I checked the box to see what ingredients may have contributed to this brightening effect and it all comes down immortelle. It’s not just a fancy French name, it’s a flower that grows on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and its oil boosts collagen synthesis, stimulates micro-circulation and enhances cell renewal. God, the French are clever – and just a little bit sexy!
So not only have I found a secret weapon to disguise sleepless nights, all this talk of sexy French men will have me dreaming happy thoughts tonight!
