If you thought triple cleansing or double moisturising (aka ‘slugging’) was crazy, you haven’t heard of the ‘Mixon Method’. Taking inspiration from the 10-step Korean skin care routine, a TikToker by the name of Ashley Mixon has created a skin care technique of her own: layering not one but seven toners.
The 43-year-old has garnered a following based on her unconventional toning method, which sees her layering a series of seven different toners after cleansing and prior to moisturising – morning and night. Based on her visibly radiant skin and strong dedication to her toners, others have also incorporated this technique into their own skin care routines. And now, dare we say, we’re a tad tempted to do the same?
The creator herself advises her followers to start slowly with two or three toners. Using exclusively K-beauty toners, Ashley starts with her thin, watery toners and builds up to her thicker formulas. She doesn’t waste time either! After pouring a serving of product the size of a 50-cent piece into her hands, she pats the toner across her face and decolletage one after the other – no need to let them dry. The result? A super dewy, ultra-moisturised complexion.
Obviously, this technique won’t be for everyone. On the contrary, Ashley has received rude comments due to her unorthodox routine. Much like most things in beauty, however, there are no rules! As witnessed, hate is certainly uncalled for, especially when it comes to hydration.
For those who enjoy the self-care process, there may actually be some merit to the so-called toning madness.
“I call it the Mixon Method because I put my twist on the Korean beauty method. And the Korean beauty method uses up to seven toners – it’s called the seven layer method – which brings you to the ultimate hydration with toners,” the creator explained in a video.
“All of these toners are hydrating, moisturising, full of ceramides, niacinamide – wonderful, nourishing things for your skin. They’re not the way that they used to be, [like] astringent-type toners. These are very loving for your skin.”
The traditional technique, titled ‘The Seven Skin Method’ originated in Korea. By layering up to seven hydrating toners and essences (‘skins’), the method is said to keep your skin hydrated and plump.

Would you try the ‘Mixon Method’?
Wow. It’s certainly working for her. I am envious about the look of her skin. She certainly doesn’t look her age. Good on her.
Few procedures done on her face, very obvious. Her neck/décolletage show the age. There is no filler, laser, facelift, threads, botox there used .
I thought the same, lips are done. Who is to say other procedures haven’t been done?
I thought her lips looked like they had work done
she is only 43 so I would expect her to look pretty good at this age.
That just sounds excessive
My thoughts exactly, @Miss19.
I would if I had the extra money and extra time. Her hair does look beautiful and looks like it works for her.
Yes Saffy my budget doesn’t cover this expense but I would try if I could get my skin to look like hers.
I am against using so many products
seems pointless as your skin can only absorb so much but even so her skin looks great.
No. 7 bad toners to make a good one? Not needed. I have one essence that is so good that I need no skincare when in rush but that essence.
No thanks. My skin can’t absorb too many products at one.
I’m not keen to try this on.
Her skin looks amazing so why not try.
I would worry about skin irritation with so many products.
As much as I like toners, I don’t feel the need to use seven at once.
I think it’s a bit much, I currently use 2
I’d like to try the rice toner but the licorice one sounds great too
Lol, the things that emanate from TikTok are bizarre
I’m 61 and no I certainly wouldn’t do this. I believe its a routine due to OCD or otherwise an attempt to be original and get tik tok views. No thanks.
Tik Tok fills me with horror and often I’m sure it’s for effect and “Look at ME.” I could be wrong but that’s how I feel.
me too
I don’t have tiktok, but have seen some clips circulating and being sent by my friends. That thing, whatever it is, is bizzare
In the words of a meme “ I ain’t got time for that!”.
She does look so fake in my opinion,. when they have had so many procedures, you can’t take any skincare advise seriously
I completely agree!
I like the intention but 7 is excessive. I use one, an essence followed by a sheet mask before serums. That is way less work than this routine.
Yep, sounds wasteful
I would think that’d be drying on the skin more than anything else. But even so, who could be bothered with seven toners?
EVen if this works, I do not have time in my life for 7 toners!
I wish i had the time, but that rice water toner looks good
One at a time is enough for me though I do use 2 different moisturizers in winter
I can’t trust beauty advice from anyone that looks like they’ve had several procedures done
If I was going to use multiples of one type of skincare product, it would be serums – but not 7 of them.
That is too many products.
This seems like a lot of extra work even though she does look great.
This sounds exhausting
That is too much!
Skin is not that complicated and does not need over complicated product routines. Just a gimmick.
Seems a bit excessive!
