Trying To Manage ‘Me Time’ With Mum Guilt? Try Miranda Kerr’s Morning Routine

Miranda Kerr is a busy woman. Between running a global skin care company, modelling, and being a mum of three young children, we’re honestly unsure how she has any time for herself. Though during a recent interview with InStyle, the Kora Organics founder made one thing clear — “family comes first” — in order to be the best mother and wife, Miranda blocks out two hours each day to spend purely on taking care of herself. She’s even cracked the code on how to do so without any “mother guilt.”

How has Miranda established sleeping boundaries with her kids?

As any parent knows, you know that even your best intentions can be quickly derailed by the sound of little feet running into your bedroom. However, in the Speigel-Kerr household they’ve enlisted the help of one very clever toy to set some boundaries.

“I have this little Sleeper Hero,” Miranda said, speaking of the superhero doll which comes with an inbuilt light system to alert your child when it’s sleep time and when it’s time to wake up.

“When the light goes green that means he [referring to her youngest son Myles] can come in. He shares a room with his brother who’s three and he’s very good at saying ‘the green light isn’t on yet, we can’t go in.'” Um, genius.

And what this means for Miranda? An uninterrupted morning routine.

What does Miranda’s morning routine look like?

“My husband wakes up at 5am every single morning,” she said. Which essentially acts as her own personal alarm clock. “Once I’m woken up it’s really hard for me to go back to sleep.”

After a 20-minute yoga and meditation session to “stretch it out and do a little centering”, she follows with 40 minutes of something a little more intensive. Her two fave online workouts? Sculpt Society and Tracy Anderson.

Then onto shower time, body care and her skin care routine. “I dry body brush my body all over,” she shared. Keen to give it a go? Try using a tool like the Manicare Dry Body Brush ($12.93, Chemist Warehouse).

With benefits in increasing circulation and buffing away dead skin, it’s no wonder Miranda’s skin always appears to be glowing and smooth.

From there, “I get to do my skin care routine, which I love.” While she doesn’t detail each step, we can only assume it’s made up of goodies from Kora Organics.

Then it’s breakfast time, school drop off and the day begins. Sounds simple enough right? Right!

  1. I’m sure if she can do 20 mins of yoga 40 of a more intensive workout followed my body brushing and self care alone with a 3 year old it’s more a gadget with a green light that says he can enter her room it’s Nannie’s and the rest. Which is great for her but the way it sounds makes the rest of us wonder why not me too. If they were a bit more honest I’d respect it a lot more.

  2. I always forget to pick up dry brushing again until I read something where Miranda Kerr is once again going on about it! She is not only consistent with the habit but also talking about it all the time over the years.

  3. Miranda is so very lucky to have such an understanding Husband to help out with the Children. Apparently Evan Spiegel is trying to convince Miranda on having another baby.

  4. Ah, she’s so beautiful! I do have a dedicated morning routine, using Payot blue techni liss products during the week when I’m in front on the computer to protect my skin and Skinceuticals on the weekend when I’m not. I love a good skincare routine- I’m no doubt in great company on here!!!! 😀

  5. As a mum of three young children myself, this sounds lovely yet completely unrealistic. But then again, I’m not married to a billionare with nannies and staff on hand to help me get 2hrs of ‘me time’ every single day. I’m lucky to go to the bathroom by myself!

    • Great because I said the other for kids, it is in moderation.

I said she must have really obedient kids, because mine don’t stay in their rooms.
I have an owl clock that does something similar and that doesn’t work on my kids.
