How Mindy Kaling Cares For Her Oily And Acne-Prone Skin

Looking at Mindy Kaling you wouldn’t know she considers her skin to be oily and acne-prone.

Though the actress and screenwriter has shared some pimple cream selfies in the past, for the most part her complexion always appears gleaming and glowing.

Want to know why? Turns out Mindy is a serious beauty enthusiast and her skin care routine is filled with products our bank accounts could only dream of.

Speaking to Allure, the mum-of-two confessed: “The things that I collect now that I am lucky enough to have disposable income are bedding, stationery, and face cream.”

And really, what more could a woman want?

In terms of her current nighttime routine, Mindy shared the six steps she manages to swiftly fit into a two-minute pamper sesh each evening (plus a body buy she can’t get enough of). Warning: This is one luxe routine.

First cleanse: Hot cloth

Before we get into the exxy of it all, Mindy’s first step is actually free (if you’ve got access to a facial cloth and running hot water that is). It’s a tip the 42-year-old picked up from Hollywood facialist Joanna Vargas and how she likes to begin her routine.

“I take a wet washcloth, put it in really hot water, wring it out, and try to take off the first layer of makeup — no product at all on it, just a hot washcloth — so that when I use a cleanser, it’s not just getting wasted as a makeup remover.”

bh recommends: Kosmea Five Minute Facial™ Muslin Cloth ($14.95 at David Jones) and EcoTools Polishing Facial Cloths ($11.99 at Big W)

Second cleanse: Drunk Elephant Slaii™ Cleanser

To remove any residue, Mindy then follows her hot cloth with this nourishing cleansing balm, which transforms from an oil to milk texture as it comes in contact with water.

Exfoliate: Tatcha The Rice Polish Foaming Enzyme Powder

Also a favourite in Meghan Markle’s skin care routine, Mindy uses this unique foaming powder as her exfoliating step. “I get that into all the nooks and crannies of my nose, my eyebrows, and my jawline,” she told Allure.

Toner: La Mer The Oil-Absorbing Tonic

Made to balance and reduce excess oil for a mattifying effect, we presume this luxe pick is one of the ways Mindy keeps her oily skin in check.

First serum: SkinCeuticals Retexturing Activator

Said to surpass the results of a 20 per cent glycolic acid treatment, the SkinCeuticals Retexturising Activator is one resurfacing powerhouse. It tackles texture to help diminish lines and leave skin smooth.

Second serum: Joanna Vargas Super Nova Serum

Mindy gets her dose of vitamin A from a serum concocted by her own facialist, which is said to offer a rejuvenating glow without the traditional retinol side effects. Well, that explains the hefty price tag.

Moisturiser: Créme de la Mer

$490 (60ml) at cremedelamer.com.au

Of course it wouldn’t be a luxe skin care routine without finishing with the most decadent moisturiser there is: Créme de la Mer. Want to switch bank accounts Mindy?

Body moisturiser: OSEA Anti-Aging Body Balm

Mindy hasn’t solely shared her face favourites, either; she also took to Instagram Stories to reveal her go-to body lotion. “Calling my brown skinned friends, this is such good body moisturiser for dry SoCal winter time! And smells amazing!”
