Man up for a facial

Okay, boys, I know what you’re thinking – facials are not for you, they’re a girl thing, right? Well, not necessarily, as I only just discovered.

Want to be top of your game for that hot date, look a million dollars for your lady, or even just have someone fuss over you for the better part of an hour? Then trust me fellas, you need to consider a facial.

I recently took one for the team – trying out the EmerginC RadianC facial – to see what all the fuss was about. Not sure exactly what to expect from my appointment, I quickly discovered that the hour-long treatment was nothing to fear.

For the uninitiated, one could simply say that the purpose of a facial (besides just doing it to please your missus), is to rejuvenate and improve the texture of your skin by deep cleansing your pores, exfoliating dead skin cells, and increasing the blood flow to your face (helped along by an extremely relaxing massage).

You can also have a treatment specifically geared towards making you look younger. (Plus, the ladies will love your smooth, clean skin, which in itself makes it all the more worthwhile!).

My RadianC treatment followed a pretty simple structure – a simple cleanse and light exfoliation, a face peel, and then the chance to drift off to sleep while two masks went to work transforming my skin – not too hard to handle, right? Moisturiser was then applied, and before I knew it, my hour was regrettably up.

Despite my initial beliefs that facials were only for women, I have to say I left my appointment looking, and feeling, the goods. And when I got home, my mate even told me that my skin looked…well, radiant (and no, he wasn’t being ironic).

So ladies, if you’ve been trying to get your guy in for treatments with no luck, just tell him to ‘man up’, and mention that Brad Pitt and Matt Damon – two of the world’s most masculine, always-get-the-girl guys – love this particular facial, and they’ll be booking an appointment in seconds!
