Can you imagine telling arguably the coolest girl to ever exist, Kate Moss, what to wear? The courage (and audacity) required to control what goes into the morning routine of the ’90s supermodel is an area fit for only two people’s judgement: Kate herself, and her daughter, 19-year-old Lila Grace Moss Hack. Though Kate might’ve passed on her supermodel genetics, Lila’s taking the reigns on her mum’s morning beauty routine. Pointing out one gaping (and quite frankly dangerous) gap, Lila has sorted her mum out, ensuring she’ll never skip her daily slip, slop, slap again.
Though there are likely thousands of makeup tutorials giving tips on how to look like Kate Moss, like the contouring hack that went viral on TikTok recreating the supermodel’s iconic cheekbone structure. Kate herself doesn’t put too much emphasis on the whole ‘glam’ thing. One of the many perks of looking like Kate Moss.
The beauty tip Kate has learnt from Lila…
During her Vogue Beauty Secrets video, Kate admitted, “I’m not very high-maintenance when it comes to doing my makeup.” A slight contrast to Lila who she revealed “probably has more of a skin care routine than I do.”
Holding a bottle of the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid Facial Sunscreen SPF50+ ($28.99, Chemist Warehouse) to camera, Kate said, “this is new to my routine, sunscreen.”
Looking slightly sheepish, the model revealed, “my daughter tells me off all the time. ‘Mummy you have to wear sunscreen!'”
It’s not the first, or the second time Kate and Lila have made a strong team. After posing together on the cover of Vogue, Lila recently modelled in the 2022 Fall Calvin Klein campaign (alongside Susan Sarandon and Chloë Sevigny), marking 30 years since Kate’s first-ever Calvin campaign shot her to stardom in 1992. Um, cute.
What beauty tips have you learnt from your daughter or someone younger than you?
Lol, the daughter becomes the mum and reminds her to use S/S
Take 2 Lol, the daughter becomes the mum and reminds her mother to use S/S
Yess! I have a daughter that acts like she is my mum sometimes! lol it’s so funny (and she’s my youngest daughter!!)
I have two daughters that do that -Bless them
I have two daughters who think they are the boss of me. (I really like it though)
I used to get the same comment from my daughter who is 24 now – LOL! I do try and remember though it’s often just in my tinted moisturiser!
Oh she’s so cute — and wise to boot!
How funny she is wearing the CK’s like her Mum used to.
So very glad that Kate’s Daughter Lila is telling her Mum to wear Face and Body Sunscreen is really good. It’s also a very important one for all Australians because of Australia’s Harsh Climate.
None… yet!
I guess being in England a lot of people would forget to wear sunscreen but good on her daughter for reminding her!
That’s true in a colder climate but still sunscreen is needed. Clever daughter to remind her mum.
I agree. Even when it’s not sunny and it’s cold like it can often be in England the UV Rays are still there.
Def got the beautiful genetics. How great that shes encouraging everyone to be sun safe.
Yes they both have awesome genes but suncare is for all
Number one rule is Sunscreen. She’s just like her mum.
Sensible daughter.
Great advice, wearing sunscreen it so important.
That’s so funny I always remind my mum to wear sunscreen as well
Good for you Miss19. Your mum is lucky to have a daughter who cares.
I think that is lovely that you show you care
Nothing really. From this generation of youth I lean nothing. There is always an exception, so who knows
Good on Kate to listen to her wise daughter – I took a while to use sunscreen every day
Although sunscreen is a mandatory product for myself when I plan to be outside, needing to wait 15 to 20 minutes away from the sun once it has been applied can be challenging.
I guess for those who appear to forget about applying sunscreen, a possible solution might be to use a 2-in-1 (moisturiser and sunscreen) product.
Love this mother daughter exchange and even more that Kate has listened.
Yes Kate and her daughter look really close -really lovely both of them
I loved watching her Vogue video… interested to see if her Cossmoss brand comes to Oz.
Woah! Love that! X
Sunscreen is my most important skincare step.
I don’t think they look very alike.
Suncreen was barely around when I was that age. No wonder so many of us have sun damage these days.
Often the younger ones are more sensible. Slip, slop, slap is something schools teach very well.
Plenty of older women skip sunscreen.
Better late than never with sunscreen!
Fantastic advice and I too have been reminded about sunscreen from the younger generation.
I wish someone reminded me to use sunscreen when I was younger!
