Blue Crush fans will never forget Kate Bosworth as a sun-kissed 18-year-old surfer. You might be surprised to learn, however, that unlike her on-screen character Anne-Marie, Kate Bosworth’s beauty routine involves a lot more than just sun, salt and the sea.
In fact, during a recent interview with Net-A-Porter, Kate attributed overexposure to sunlight as the reason for her chronic skin condition. “When I was 23, the sun triggered melasma, which, unfortunately, became a somewhat irritating lifelong relationship,” she said.
The actress calls it a condition that is “notoriously difficult to treat,” but credits aesthetician Faith Tatro as the woman who taught her the importance of caring for the integrity of her skin. Nearly two decades and one of the best complexions in Hollywood later, Kate’s beauty philosophy remains unchanged: “The skin is the most important part of the canvas.”
You won’t find her indulging in a 10-step self-care session, though. “I’m not the best when it comes to pampering, I’m more of a ‘let’s get it done with driven products’ kinda gal,” she said, which should’ve been our first clue that her beauty routine was going to be filled with effective, potent, and let’s face it, very pricey items.
What you won’t find amongst her beauty recommendations? The name of her favourite Botox clinic. “I’m almost 40 and have never used fillers or anything cosmetic in that way.” As for non-invasive procedures, she said: “I’m very diligent about effective skin care, lasers and light therapy.”
So without further ado, here are the beauty products Kate Bosworth is using and loving.
Cleanser: “At the moment, I wash my face with Epicuren Herbal Face Wash.” ($46, My Deal)
Moisturiser: “Orchidée Impériale Day Cream by Guerlain, which is one of my favourite heritage brands – this cream is so rich and luminous.” ($450, David Jones)
Exfoliator: “I exfoliate once a week and I’m a devotee of Nigma Talib ND Brightening Masks when I decide to spend time on myself.” ($120, Net-A-Porter)
Serum: “Nigma Talib ND + Kind.est The Serum. Dr. Nigma and I have been friends for nearly a decade, and this serum is truly a game-changer. During the development process, I was so excited by the sample and the way it quickly improved my skin – so I was begging her to send me more as soon as possible. And now it’s here!” ($336, Net-A-Porter)
Lip to Cheek (also known as her solution to a “bad face day”): “Currently, I love my friend Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s line, Rose Inc. Her Blush Divine Radiant Lip & Cheek Colour is precisely what I need on a day I don’t feel my best. Rosie has the best taste, so it’s unsurprising that she’s created such an amazing line.” ($45, MECCA)

Do you have a go-to “bad face day” product? If so, what is it?
I’ve tried that Guerlain cream (got 15mL sample in a kit), it is good (fragranced) for mature skin type. Rich.
Oh, she got melasma too. Yeah, a menance.
I have bad face day today, a huge period acne bump under the skin, yuck. Layered BHA gel on it.
Thanks for the advice!
Wouldn’t it be lovely to have each our own aesthetician!!
Yes indeed .
That moisturiser is crazy expensive! She never ages though.
Most of the products mentioned are out of my budget too.
My bad face day includes lots of water, foundation and concealer.
‘Bad face day’, love it!
Whoa, that’s a pricey list of products! They’d want to be good for those prices!
I like to give myself a face mask on a bad face day .Kate has a beautiful skin and I would love to be able to afford the products she uses as they certainly work and she looks amazing
She’s very pretty and has great skin, but oh so pricey! .
My gosh it would be lovely to be able to use all those expensive products.
Her skin is amazing!
Her chosen products appear to be doing an amazing job, her skin looks fabulous.
Her skin looks fab right now!
At the monent – Got To serum & blusher – are my bad face day savers.
Unfortunately Kate Bossworth has a very Expensive Skin Care Regime, something I couldn’t afford any of her products.
Gee, I reckon you’d need to have lovely skin if you were paying that much for skincare products.
Her skin looks stunning!
Her skin is legend! I love the sound of her regime. Realistically I’m only likely to try Rose Inc lip/blush product she uses as I love dual use products.
She looks stunning!
At those prices I won’t be trying them
yes the serum did sound awesome
Not sure what exactly melasma us, but her skin looks great in all those photos.
Melasma…bane of my existence. Pity I don’t have the money to spend on products like those she uses.
Tinted physical sunscreen is your bestie when it comes to melasma!
I have not heard of Dr Nigma, sounds like a good serum
Neither have I!
the serum sounds lovely
they all sound like lovely prices, but well outside my price range
I would love to try Kind.est serum.
Totally relate to dealing with melasma!
She has lovely skin from commitment to good skin care and top quality products, and her diet and healthy lifestyle would also be contributing factor
A good diet and getting decent sleep is so very important!
I don’t have go to products, and at those prices I’m probably not trying most of those any time soon.
Agree!
I feel the pain of Melasma… It’s starting to rear its head and I am trying everything to minimise. I am also a lifelong user of sunscreen since the age of 15.
I feel your pain too! I still haven’t been able to shift mine completely.
Rose Inc sounds great!
My ultraceuticals spot remover is my go to
She’s beautiful, but those prices are out of my range.
Wow, I wish I could afford the $450 moisturiser.
$450 is rather out of my price range as well.
They sound like beautiful products, but I doubt she ever has a bad face day!
Well if I could look like her on a bad face day that would be great.
Great article thanks for the info
Her skin looks fab 🙂
