Jennifer Lopez doesn’t age. In fact, scrolling through her back-catalogue of beauty looks makes a strong case that she’s looking even younger than she did 26 years ago. And while there has been much speculation as to how she’s done it — retinol, only sleeping on her back, going alcohol-free and of course, being superhuman — it turns out there’s one youth-boosting skin care practice that JLo has never faltered on.
And no, we’re not talking about her fermented rice sake serum.
So what’s the big secret? Simple. Wearing SPF every damn day.
Jennifer Lopez’s greatest anti-ageing tip…
After recently celebrating her 54th birthday, a bare-faced JLo took to Instagram to well, spruik her own beauty line (naturally) but also to share her number one skin care tip. “I’ve been wearing sunscreen everyday since I was in my very early 20s,” she said.
And while it’s hardly revolutionary, with alarming trends coming out of TikTok like ‘beer tan’, hearing the benefits of sunscreen touted by someone as influential as JLo herself is music to our ears.
“You should start at a very young age. There is no filter and no retouching on this video, look at that,” she said before signing off.

Do you wear SPF every day? If so, which one do you use?
I’ve been eternally grateful to have had a Mum way ahead of her years. We were made to be sun care aware years before it became fashionable. Mum and her sisters had glorious skin, all still unwrinkled into their late 80’s and 90’s and their daughters have benefited from their simple but regular skin care always involving sun screen.
Good on her and you have all benefited from her intelligence.
You are so lucky to have perfect flawless skin Trish
I do wear it every day – I have done since my late teens. Currently a Clinique one and also the Avene one from RR when I find where I put it!
I’ve started around 15yo & I wish my skin looked as good as JLo.
Vdry rarely, most extreme conditions only. My skin hates all spfs
Good on her and a good advertisement for being careful.
She is certainly a beauty. I use a few different sunscreens – Avene, Neutrogena and Liberty Belle Rx to name a few.
Wear sunscreen should be talked about daily.
Such an important skin care step.
I do wear sunscreen most days, it’s a must in North Queensland.
I wear it every day! No exceptions.
I’m so bad at wearing sunscreen every day, especially in Winter
I have used it daily for decades yet still have skin cancers being removed and one in hospital in 2 weeks, i am so frightened
sorry to hear that. I asked my dermatologist and he said that skin cancers can be caused by other factors apart from sun such as genetics. Hope you are ok
I rarely wear s/s and know i should (smacks wrist)
It’s great to read celebrity advice that’s sensible! Good on JLo! I do the same.
These days I always wear SPF and usually use the cancer society one.
I wish id apply more SPF in my earlier years, but I’m learning and changing my habits
Yes I do! Even though all of them feel so oily and greasy on my face
I always do on my face. Need to be better with the rest of my exposed skin.
Yep. Good solid advice for everyone.
I would have done this except for facial sunscreens being very thick & oily. With oily skin, it was just a disaster. But lately I’ve discovered Ultra Violette and this is a concern of the past. Wish it had been around all my life!
Sunscreen is so important now. My must do is to always wash my face before bed
I don’t wear it as often as I should.
Sunscreen is a must have! No matter your skin type, the weather or any other factors. Sunscreen is the best way to keep your skin looking youthful. Thanks for spreading awareness about this.
Sunscreen is a must have for everyone! No matter your skin, the weather or how sunny it is!
Yep, I’ve been wearing sunscreen since I was a teenager and I can see the difference between my skin and others my own age.
I try to wear it everyday and always remind my daughters to apply sunscreen before going to school.
Yes, I wear sunblock everyday. At the moment I am using ‘We are Feel Good’ inc, but as long as it is SPF50, that is the main thing.
I need to get better at applying sunscreen every morning.
Sunscreen is definitely the best for preventing skin damage!
