Jennifer Connelly: the ultimate anti-ageing muse

by

Sandra Bullock has been my ultimate anti-ageing muse for years. Her flawless skin, exceptional use of colourful make-up and glossy brunette strands allow the 49-year-old actress to give even models like Miranda Kerra run for their money.

However, my eye has started to wander a little lately, and I can now officially confirm Sandra’s got some serious competition when it comes to claiming this honourable title. Her fierce rival is currently this stunning lady: Jennifer Connelly.

Now, before I start raving and ranting about why Jennifer Connelly is the epitome of an age-defying celebrity, here is the photographic proof that swayed me:

Jennifer Connelly in April 2014, aged 43

I know you have eyes and can see for yourself that Jennifer Connelly appears to have not aged one single bit in the last 10 years but here’s a proper rundown of why:

4 REASONS JENNIFER CONNELLY LOOKS SO YOUTHFUL AT 43

#1. She has thick, natural eyebrows

“Her brows themselves look youthful,” says Charmilla Herath, internationally trained hair, brow and make-up artist, and the owner and CEO of Jet Set Go Express Beauty Bar. Jennifer has maintained them in a way that looks natural and almost untamed, explains Charmilla, leaving her with full, thick full set that is reminiscent of untouched teenage brows. Yes, over-plucking is the enemy, as are overly high arches.

#2. She has stayed out of the sun

If Jennifer Connelly isn’t a walking, talking advert for sunscreen, I don’t know what is. Her even complexion and lack of any obvious pigmentation confirms she’s a vigilant user of sunscreen and will never be caught lying on a beach naughtily frying her skin.

#3. She choses her make-up wisely

“Jennifer has not tried to add colour by fake tanning or applying foundation or bronzers in an unnatural darker shade,” says Charmilla. “She has kept true to her skin tone and worked with cooler colour tones on eyes, lips and cheeks. It’s a very fresh look.” Charmilla recommends those with mature skins should always apply a hydrating primer before make-up application, and opt for liquid foundations for a dewy, healthy glow that also minimises the look of pores and fine lines.

#4. She embraces a feminine updo

A bun or ponytail that is secured high on the crown acts like an instant facelift. It gently pulls back any slackening skin around the forehead and eyes, giving the face a smoother, more lifted appearance.

Who is your ultimate anti-ageing muse? Do you think Jennifer Connelly looks incredible at 43? Will you be stealing any of her youthful beauty tricks?
