Q: “Hey beauties, I’m going to India this Wednesday for a month and I m really excited…Anyways just wanted to know some tips to keep my skin hydrated in flight…” – Nidhi1
A: Long flights may be exciting in that they signify the start of a holiday, but board that plane unprepared and it can mean disaster for your skin! Step out into that new city looking like you’ve just flown First Class with these high-flying hydration tips:
#1: Drink plenty of water. The high altitude and the artificial air in the cabin will dehydrate you during your flight, so if you want to look and feel as fresh as possible, it’s imperative that you drink plenty of water throughout. It’s also a good idea to avoid caffeine and alcohol both before and during your flight.
#2: Keep a nourishing lip balm handy (I like to put mine in the seat pocket so it’s easy to reach at any time) and apply it liberally throughout the flight. This will ensure that your lips don’t crack and peel (no one wants rough lips at the start of your trip after all!). If you’re prone to sneezing and congestion in the air, you can also use your hydrating balm around your nose to prevent it from drying out. We like:Avene Cold Cream Lip Balm.
#3: Before you board your flight, apply an ultra-rich serum under your moisturiser to act as an extra barrier against the drying effects of the cabin. If your serum is less than 100ml, you can take it on board with you and apply it liberally throughout the flight. We like:Ahava Source Face Care Mineral Beauty Serum.
#4: Don’t forget your hands – they too can become dry and cracked while you’re cruising over the clouds! Either pack a travel-sized hand cream and slather it on as often as possible, or turn your nourishing lip balm into a double-duty beauty buy by smoothing it over your nails and cuticles. We like:Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream.
