Golden Globe beauty

Golden Globe beauty

Just when you thought the red carpet couldn’t get any red-hotter, the Golden Globes came to town. But if you thought Hollywood glamour meant seriously smoky eyes and fiery red pouts, think again. This year it was all about going au natural with a fresh feminine flush and the occasional burst of lip colour, or a slick of seductive-but-definitely-not-smudgy eyeliner.

Here are just a handful of the looks we lusted after:

Maggie Gyllenhaal led the natural pack with little more than a pretty pink pout, a flush of blush and lashings of mascara. Teamed with her cool-but-chic sleeked back bun and a dusky peach RM by Roland Mouret dress, she looked anything but ordinary.

French beauty Marion Cotillard wowed the crowds by matching her eye make-up to her emerald-hued Christian Dior gown (gasp!) – and making it work (double gasp!!).

While Zoe Saldana got mixed reviews for her custom-made burgundy-hued Lois Vuitton number, I think the Avatar actress rocked the look with complementing softly-shaded eyes, a neutral pout and casually-curled hair.

If there was an award for best application of eyeliner, it would’ve gone to The O.C and House starlet, Olivia Wilde who made her peepers sparkle almost as much as her sequinned Gucci gown.

‘Best no-fuss tresses award’ goes to my fave martyr for single women – who else but Jen Aniston. She sported post-coital chic strands and looked extremely comfy snuggling up to Gerard Butler backstage. Hmmm…maybe her hair was really the result of some clandestine rolling in the hay!
