What began with a Target candle in the US being scouted as a dupe for Tom Ford’s very premium scent ‘Tobacco Vanille’, has now been discovered in yet another affordable item; this time in the shape of Febreze’s ‘Wood’ air freshener.

Instagrammer Sydney Grace, otherwise known as @ohhhhhhhhhoney, put this latest dupe discovery to the test. She revealed to her followers, “I’ve used Febreze before, but it’s always just been one of those things your parents have in their guest bathroom”. Upon spritzing and to her surprise, the supermarket air freshener shared the same musky, warm and woody tones as Tom Ford’s famous version.
It’s safe to say Sydney will be a repeat purchaser, as she admits “I spray it everywhere and on everything these days”. Adding, “if they sold the ‘Woods scent’ in a perfume, I would totally buy it. No shame”.

While Febreze is stocked in Coles and Woolies, this exact scent doesn’t currently seem to be on our Aussie shelves (surely it’s due to arrive any day now..). In the meantime, you can purchase a double bottle pack on Amazon for as little as $14.95, here.

Not into air refresheners at all. Do love couple of TF perfumes though and wear even when home.

I have smelt Tobacco Vanille before. Must say this is curious but I would still want to smell it before purchase to check the resemblance.

Despite the name, the scent doesn’t smell of tobacco at all – it is a gorgeous woody vanilla.
I have this scent, it is one of my favourites. I wish it was only $140 – maybe that’s the cost of the candle! I’d be very curious to compare it with the air freshener, but it would make it that little less special if it really does smell the same!

I just use old perfumes as air freshener lol. Tom Ford air freshener though… mmmm… Black Orchid would be amazing! We don’t have windows in the bathrooms so a good, not nauseating air freshener is a must!
