Do you love products that not only enhance your beauty look, but deliver extra benefits such as hydration and nourishing ingredients? If you answered ‘yes’, this week’s Expert Trial Team has reviewed just the products for you. Rosie trialled a highly-pigmented yet moisturising lipstick, while Carli tested a long-lasting foundation that promotes skin regeneration. When it came to hair, I experienced a repairing mask that that made my mane shiny, soft and smooth, and Olivia’s nails were transformed with a jazzy gel nail polish that’s LED/UV-free.
Here’s what our triallers had to say about the products…
L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire
bh’s Rosie says:
“As soon as I put this glossy and ultra-pigmented lip gloss on my lips, I fell head over heels. The leaf-shaped applicator made smoothing this gloss across my lips a dream. It picked up just enough product to cover my bottom lip, before I dipped it in again to apply to my top lip. The pointed tip on the applicator was excellent for lining my cupid’s bow with pigment without smudging above my lip. Bursting with a bright, ruby-red colour and incredible shine, my lips looked evenly covered, and very full and bold. The creamy texture kept my lips feeling moisturised, and the colour remained vibrant for hours on end. The glimmering gold packaging made it super easy to find in my bag, and it looked much more high-end than it’s price point. I think it’s well worth showing off!”
Maybelline New York SuperStay Better Skin Foundation
bh’s Carli says:
“My T-zone usually gets oily after about two or three hours of wear, so I was incredibly impressed when I hit the eight hour mark and my forehead, nose, and chin were still shine-free. I loved the coverage of the foundation, and found that it stays put all day long, and the finish is exactly right for me (a velvety matte finish). I did find that it didn’t glide on as easily as I would have liked, but it still blended excellently and I could easily build up the coverage.”
Sally Hansen Miracle Gel
bh’s Liv says:
“I am such a fan of gel nails, though for someone like me (who thinks she can do a perfectly good job of painting her nails at home), I wasn’t too keen on paying to achieve the look every few weeks. I’ve seen the at-home kits with lights and they’re great, but Sally Hansen Miracle Gel is quite unique, as it allows you to achieve bright, gel-like nail colour without the use of a lamp. It applies to your nails easily and is ”‹incredibly pigmented, which means for some, one coat may be enough. I personally loved the fact that my nails looked so bright and gel-like, as if they’d been done in salon. Six days in and my nails still look polished and ready to go with only some very minor chipping on the very edge of my nails. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel is definitely the next step in at-home nail colour.”‹”
L’OCCITANE Aromachology Repairing Mask for Dry & Damaged Hair
bh’s Beth says:
“Since getting balayage a couple of years ago, my hair has become quite dry and brittle. Shampoo and conditioner alone don’t cut it anymore and with it’s very pretty pink and green packaging, L’OCCITANE’s hair mask seemed like just the repairing treatment I needed. While for me the scent is a bit overbearing, a little bit of this super-rich hair mask goes a long way. You only need a small amount and while the instructions advise to apply it to the length of your hair, I only applied it to the bottom, colour-damaged half. To get the most out of any hair mask, I recommend combing it through your hair and leaving it on for a bit longer than suggested (in this case, 3 minutes). L’OCCITANE’s mask left my hair feeling strong, soft and smooth. I’d highly recommend it to anyone with coloured hair like mine!”
