Eva Mendes is notoriously private. From her marriage to Ryan Gosling to the reason behind why she just doesn’t to seem age, we know next to nothing about the actress. With the exception of one handy bronzer tip, Eva has even kept her beauty regimen close to her chest. At least until now.
And while she’s hardly walked us through her bathroom and detailed every step of her routine from her favourite cleanser to her can’t-live-without budget mascara, she has, however, drip fed us one small but mighty piece of information.
Which is? How she reduces the appearance of a puffy complexion. And it’s a practice shared by her famous alumni, Meghan Markle and Drew Barrymore.
How does Eva Mendes reduce puffiness?
If you’re a regular reader of all things beauty, beauty, you’ll be well acquainted with the ancient Chinese practice of gua sha. And if not, we’re about to break it down for you.
In short, a gua sha is a facial scraping tool, usually made of a stone such as jade or rose quartz and is used to sculpt, tone and de-puff the face. Essentially, it’s yoga for your face. When practiced on a regular basis, a gua sha has shown benefits in reducing inflammation and keeping our cheekbones and jawline prominent – which is exactly the reason Eva herself is such a fan of this sculpting technique.
“I love this tool to decrease puffiness and reduce inflammation,” she told People. Oh, and as an added bonus, Eva says, “it feels so good!”. Well there you have it, turns out beauty doesn’t have to be pain after all.

Manicare® dermaSCULPT gua sha stone
“This is easier to use than my other pink quartz guasha stone. I find this one gives me instant results and I can see the increased blood circulation in my skin straight away. Wow. I haven’t been using this for long but I love it already and find the instructions super easy to follow on the pack. It’s easy to know what to use where and how. I’m excited to keep using this as I would love to see firmness in my skin fully return.” – clearcrystalwater

Have you used a gua sha? If so, what did you think?
Oh wow! I would love to try these, I suffer from puffiness around my eyes.
I have the same problem 🙁
I wonder how it works ?
Me too, terribly. Sometimes I use a face roller under my eyes which helps for a short while.
I’d love to see if this decreases my under-eye puffiness!
Worth a try? Maybe?
I have never heard of this.
Not sure if these work or not but it would probably be quite relaxing anyway. I found some info on how it supposedly works on the byrdie page (was the first page google brought up).
Thanks I will look up.
I googled and was really interested .Thanks Lindylou
Never used one before
I haven’t tried a quartz guasha stone, but would like to.
Beautful relaxing tool
You gave an awesome review
Never tried one before.
Do not have patience for it. Good concept
I have one but haven’t used it yet.
I have something similar but not in the habit of using it frequently yet. I should really pick it up again.
Have been using my Rose Quartz Gua Shu for a very long time and I can say that it really works. At night time my skin routine is I cleanse my face and neck, decolletage and I use a hydrating serum on my face and neck, decolletage then use my Gua Shu to scrape my neck area down to my decolletage, then I scrape my chin line both sides with my Gua Shu going up my face to my cheeks and eyes the bridge of my nose and forehead.
Using the Gua Shu I can recommend this method and I am 64 years old and my neck is smooth and my jawline looks great.
Now to learn how to actually use it
Ah, I didn’t know what the stone was for. Great! I’ll have to try it
I’ve used a gua sha tool on my face but prefer to use a kansa wand. I find it more relaxing, easier to use and just as good
I haven’t tried these, sounds like good results
I am a little skeptical. I just think she has great genes.
That too.
I also think she has great genes Lucky her.
I haven’t used one and a very interesting read.
Never tried, wondered if they really work.
I use a quartz roller regularly, but haven’t tried one of these
I’ve just received one as a mothers day present! along with a few other little goodies
I suffer from bloating during that time of the month, I really need to try this !
This sounds like something I’d do for a week and then start forgetting.
Eva looks lovely
I’ve got a jade roller that works well when I have under-eye puffiness. I know it works short term, but I’m sceptical about long term benefits.
I wonder if a finger massage would do the same
I would love to try it.
I love rose water from the fridge too!
I have a puffy face. But that’s because I’m overweight. I don’t think a Gua Sha is going to cure that
