In an ideal world, we’d all be remembered for our greatest achievement and not our most notable physical feature. But when we’re only seeing celebrities in red carpet photos or walking down runways, it’s often all we’ve got to go off.
Just think, in a quick-fire round of Family Feud we’re going to assume the name Brooke Shields would be met with a flurry of synonyms for “eyebrows”. As would Heidi Klum and the word “legs”. Which just by the way, are both insured for over $1 million each.
And in the case of Cindy Crawford? Well that beauty spot has had an entire career in its own right. However, when she was just a teenager, her now-asset was once viewed as her greatest flaw. Say what?!

“On my first day of high school, someone shouted, “Hey Little Crawford, you have chocolate on your face,” she recalled to The Wall Street Journal.
It was this very moment that prompted her to seek advice on getting the iconic beauty spot permanently removed.
“She didn’t say no and said we could talk to a doctor,” Cindy said. But before it even got to that point, “she said, ‘you don’t know what the scar will look like, but you know what the beauty mark looks like now.'”
So, it stayed! And we’re so glad that it did.

Have you ever been self-conscious about any of your features like Cindy Crawford? How have you learnt to love them?
I know a couple of people who prefer to keep a mole rather than risk a scar. I also have friends who have had moles removed from their face and I cannot see any scars when they are make up free.
Surgery can be so good nowadays. Scars on the face are very rare if the cut is done well.
I think you have to be aware that a mole can turn into cance so look for any changes.
Good decision she decided to keep it.
It’s iconic!
I have birthmark spots on my torso , a lot, genetic and they do not bother me. But on the face, none. Luckily
I have a beauty mark on my cheek… sort of Natalie Portman-like.
I had a little black spot on my face and because of other people telling me I should get rid of it eventually did but now I can not see where it was..
Mum’s right!
she always is
Yep, great advice from mum there!
Great advice Mum!
I have some freckles on the top of my leg that have been with me as long as I can remember.
I would not like to take my chances. Got me thinking how did a mole on the face become to be called a beauty spot?
Yes its part of her, we need to be more accepting of what we look like
I scar way too easily so any blemishes on my face I don’t like stay where they are.
I have a large birth mark under my right breast. The doctor has confirmed that it’s not unsafe but every year when I have my skin check, doc asks me if I want to have it removed. It doesn’t bother me, so no it can stay.
I love her mole
Sadly, if she was starting her career out today, I bet she’d have it removed.
Cindy’s mole makes her stand out – in a good way!
If I’ve got a raised zit, I cover it with a brown eyebrow pencil to make it look like a mole – concealer makes it look like a wart, so a little mole looks better than a zit or wart.
I have a huge mark on my thigh and i always get asked about it when i wear shorts or is in my swimwear. I haven’t done anythIng about it yet.. maybe i wont
we need to be more accepting of our bodies and realise little comments can be hurtful to others.
Very sensible advice about a range of things, really.
Her mum gave good advice!
Some features are unique to your body need to accept beauty of them.
Look at those eyebrows in the 90’s pic ❤️😍
If it hasn’t caused any problems, I would leave it alone. I would have it looked at if I noticed any changes.
Yes the old saying, if it aint broke, dont fix it.
I like that she kept the mole, and she still rocks her natural beauty.
It’s a natural feature and should be there
Good advice from her mum.
It’s no big deal and makes her even more unique
Good advice from Mum! I remember hearing this story ages ago.
I think they looks nice and you have to accept it.
I had a small wart removed from my chin, you can’t see a scar. I feel better without it.
