Christy Turlington Has One Non-Negotiable Rule For Her Face

Christy Turlington is making changes professionally. Physically, however? She’s staying exactly as she is. At 54-years-old, the OG supermodel considers running a non-for-profit, being a mother and advocating for maternal health, to be (only a few) of her more relevant bi-lines.

Though to balance out her recent professional developments – which she proudly discussed during an interview with Vogue – Christy reflected on one of the more personal decision she’s made over the years.

After all, what’s more personal than one’s own face?

What is Christy Turlington’s one rule on ageing?

“I will never alter or augment my face, never” she said, attributing this unwavering value to her mum who she described as being very comfortable in her own skin.

The process of watching her mother allow herself to age gracefully, without intervention, has been the driving inspiration behind Christy’s decision to never undergo an invasive treatment.

A lymphatic drainage massage, however? Absolutely.

“My mum is in her 80s and she looks so good. I think she looks so good because she has allowed herself to look like she’s in her 80s,” Christy explained.

It’s a philosophy Christy’s mum hopes her daughter will inherit.

“I’m not preoccupied with how I look,” Christy said. Sure, it’s an easy way to feel when you’re classified as one of the most beautiful women of all time, but we like the attitude!

However, as someone who’s built a career of their looks, Christy promises she’s not vain. “The truth is, other people were always worried about what I looked like, so I didn’t have to worry about it”.

If you’re asking for our opinion? We sit firmly in the ‘whatever makes you feel good’ camp.

How do you feel about Christy’s rule on surgery? Do you feel the same way.

  1. She is a naturally beautiful woman and was my favourite of the original 80’s supermodels. With those stunning high cheekbones I think she will still be looking incredible in her later years. I hope she doesn’t change her mind on the “no surgery” rule.

  2. I love this I wish more women felt comfortable and confident loving their own unique features. I will never have invasive treatment. If your mindset isn’t ok no amount of treatment will ever make you satisfied with yourself. Also I find many of the procedures too risky. I love natural beauty.. wrinkles, greys, stretch marks, freckles and all. I think loving my face and body natural sets a good example for my daughter. You don’t need to impress anyone. People out there will think your perfect the way you are. But do what makes you truly happy at the end of the day.

  3. I wouldn’t be willing to take on the risks of surgery for something that was purely about appearances. I have no particular problem if other people decide to, though.
