How wonderful is getting a killer beauty recommendation from a girlfriend? Even more so when those girlfriends are actually supermodels like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley or Ashley Graham. Now that we’ve celeb-ified our nighttime skincare routine after learning of Gemma Chan’s go-to drugstore retinol, we’re ready for more. And this time? The A-listers’ morning routines are getting a closer look as we explore the brightening vitamin C serums they’re reaching for.
So without further ado, let’s take a virtual squiz into the bathroom vanities of Hollywood’s finest as we reveal the vitamin C serums our celebrities are using and loving…
Ashley Graham – SkinCeuticals
If you’ve spent much time reading up on skin care crowd pleasers, we bet you’ve come across the SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic ($233, Adore Beauty) a few hundred times before. And amongst its growing list of fans is Ashley Graham.
“My dermatologist, Dr. Shereene Idriss, told me about [it]. I started going to her about a year ago because I felt like my skin was starting to look a little dull. My skin was changing, my body was changing, I was getting older but I’m not old-old,” Ashley told The Strategist.
“And she said to me, ‘are you using a vitamin C serum?’ When I said no, she looked at me with pure shock. I got the [C E Ferulic], and now I use it every day. I definitely have seen a difference. It really brightened my complexion. I don’t even use a moisturiser over it sometimes because it’s super hydrating.”
Gemma Chan – L’Oreal Paris
When Glamour asked Gemma Chan to only pick three beauty products to use for the rest of her life, one of the coveted spots went to the L’Oreal Paris Revitalift ($65.95, Priceline). She referred to the vitamin C and hyaluronic acid serum as “amazing” and one that she “would have to have”.
Nicole Kidman – SkinCeuticals
Just like her famous alumni, Ashley Graham, Nicole also loves herself a bit of the SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic ($233, Adore Beauty). “I use vitamin C too, because that does give you some protection long-term,” she told The Skincare Edit of the reasoning behind her inclusion of the all-star ingredient.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley – iS Clinical
“A product that I’ve been using for quite some time now is the iS Clinical Super Serum ($154, All Saint Skin). I love this product because it is loaded with vitamin C,” Rosie told The Skincare Edit.
Jasmine Tookes – Kora Organics
Jasmine Tookes has revealed her brightening elixir of choice and it’s none other than her pal Miranda Kerr’s Kora Organics Vitamin C Serum ($86, Adore Beauty), she told Grazia. Supermodels supporting supermodels, we love to see it.
Jessica Alba – Honest Beauty
Radiance with a side of hydration, anyone? Each morning, post-cleanse, Jessica Alba reaches for her very own recipe, Honesty Beauty’s Vitamin C Radiance Serum ($29.95, Honest Company), telling The Skincare Edit, “what I love about this vitamin C is that it actually has two hyaluronic acids with it, so it brightens your skin without drying it out.”
Drew Barrymore – Sunday Riley
If you’re looking to condense your skin care regimen into a few very powerful steps, allow Drew Barrymore’s favourite vitamin C oil to point you in the right direction. Speaking to Today, Drew described Sunday Riley’s vitamin C, A, E and K-rich serum, the Juno Antioxidant and Superfood Face Oil ($108, MECCA) as being “one of the first products that made me fall deeply in love with skin care.”
Have you tried any of these vitamin C serums? If not, which one do you use?
I haven’t tried any of the above vitamin c serums and I’m not currently using one.
Neither, always worries about sun damage afterwards
I have only heard of a couple of these.
I haven’t tried any of these, but I’d love to try the Sunday Riley one
Can you imagine paying $233 for SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, Adore Beauty. So expensive. A couple of celebrities endorse it but I couldn’t justify the price. Wonder how good it really is. I do believe Vitamin C is of benefit. Lots to choose from.
Wow!! I didn’t realize the price.
Would love to try it but I just couldn’t justify the price. I’d almost need a money back guarantee.
Used to be cheaper than that. The hype really drove up the price. I’ve yet to try it and the price tag is a real deterrent.
After reading ing I see no need to pump up the price so high. Even if my skin was ok with vitC, I would never ever pay for it that much. Especially because have seen zero evidence that does work in fading pigmentation.
I suppose they can afford it.
so many dupes around now
I think I’ve tried a sample of the Skinceuticals but I think I forgot to review it! If I remember correctly it is a fine fluid that is not oily and spreads super easily. I think it was great but the price to purchase it was a little offputting when I had other serums to use already at home anyhow
Where did you get the sample from?
I would love to try some of the Skinceuticals products but can’t afford the price point.
The skinceauticals one looks Like a fav among celebrities. Not in my price range at the moment .
So many to choose from!
Love trying different ones and have trialled a few through BH. Using an Essano one currently but want to try a Swisse one I have.
I used loreal one, but it is not vitc serum, has no C in it
My skin does not like vitC products at all
I was keen to try the Skinceuticals one until I noticed the $233 price tag! Yikes!
Vitamin C products all made my skin breakout until I tried Essano, so I think I’ll stick with it.
I have heard about SkinCeuticals but have never used it
Wow $233, not sure I could ever justify a price tag like that.
That is definitely really expensive!
There are other more affordable brightening ingredients on the market now. While I would love to try the reverred Skinceuticals serum, I could never justify the price as it stands in the $230ish range.
I’m so glad I started that thread on the forums. I’m loving Ray_jay’s suggestions.
A range of prices and brands here. Kora Organics would be my pick
The skinceuticals one is so dear!!
It is. Try Vichy as an alternative- made by same parent company and derms have recommended it…
I’ve used different vitamin C serums but none of the mentioned ones. I don’t really have a favourite.
Some wonderful Serums, definitely will be buying these when I need new Serum.
I don’t use a vitamin c serum. Interested to try the L’Oreal Revitalift
I am on my second full bottle of the SkinCeuticals CE Furelic… It is the best. I dabbled with the La-Roche Posay Vitamin C serum, but it oxidises very quickly.
Would love to try the Sunday Riley Vitamin C range!!!
Does it smell like hot dogs? I swear that’s the ferulic acid!
It does smell like cold cuts but you get used to it!
How does it oxidise? Does it disappear into your skin quickly?
Due to the mixture of Vitamin E and Ferulic, and the science behind it, it takes a little longer to oxidise. That is what you are paying money for…. unlike La Roche-Posay (which oxidises within 3 weeks), this one lasts longer.
Origins and Dermalogica also make a great Vitamin C cream that I am keen to re-purchase.
Would like to try a couple of these
The majority of those are out of my price range, sadly.
Check out the Vit C thread on the forums for some economical alternatives.
Skinceuticals is where it’s at. Loving Time*less and G&G.
I haven’t tried any of these but they look really good!
I haven’t tried any of these products but the Juno bottle would look like something i would like to try
I haven’t added a Vit C to my routine.
Vitamin C for the win!
I keep hearing great things about the Skinceuticals one, but it’s hard to justify the cost!
My skin love Vitamin C products. I am currently using Garnier brand.
I’m a bit wary of using Vitamin C products on my sensitive skin.
