Bethenny Frankel is talking skin care for tweens. Specifically that of her 12-year-old daughter. What makes this so interesting? Well, firstly it’s one of the very few opinions she’s shared online that hasn’t upset anyone. A win for all!
And secondly, it’s an area that doesn’t receive enough airtime. Facts. As adults we spend more money than we care to admit on retinol serums to plump out our fine lines and cleansers which work to manage adult acne.
As for that in-between, awkward phase of childhood? It kind of falls under the ‘use whatever is cheap or specifically formulated for kids’ department. Sounds bad when we put it that way, doesn’t it?
To no one’s fault, the importance of a basic yet effective skin care routine often gets overlooked until we’re well into our teens and acne starts to rear its red and angry head. Why? It’s either viewed as unnecessary or there’s uncertainty as to which products are going to be safe for younger skin.
What does Bethenny Frankel think about tween skin care?
Enter Bethenny. As a mother and one of the most honest voices in the public eye, Bethenny is someone who we can trust to cut the crap and tell us what we need (and what we most certainly do not). Particularly when it comes to beauty products.
“Little kids’ parents don’t really care about what their little kids are putting on their faces because they’re tweens and around crappy makeup,” she told Shape. The self-titled ‘anti-influencer of beauty’ explained that when it comes to her daughter, Bryn, she’ll only purchase gentle products that won’t upset her sensitive skin.
Which cleanser does Bethenny Frankel buy for her daughter?
In search of a cleanser that wouldn’t “irritate [Bryn] or give her a rash,” she comfortably landed on La Roche-Posay’s Toleriane Gentle Cleanser ($25.49, Chemist Warehouse).
Loved by celebrities, beauty editors, the French and of course, our bh members, we’re not surprised this cleanser left Bethenny impressed. The milky consistency has been formulated without any fragrances or preservatives and enriched with moisturising glycerin to soothe and nourish dry and sensitive skin types. Heaven.
Here’s what our members had to say:
“I don’t wear any foundation, so for me it is perfect as a cleanser and leaves my skin very soft and smooth and with no oily residue. Often I find I can apply a serum and then a moisturiser straight after using it and I don’t have to remove any residue prior to doing so.” – Sharyn79
“I use this La Roche Posay cleanser religiously every night, it is my absolute favourite! I’ve got sensitive skin but this cleanser is super gentle and non-irritating, and the product feels smooth and silky when on my face.” – Kate Giddy
“This cleanser is very mild, and very well suited to sensitive skin. It has no discernible scent, and feels creamy and cool to apply. I wash it off with a damp cloth, and after use my skin is clean but stripped.” – Isolda

Have you tried this La Roche-Posay cleanser? If not, which sensitive skin-friendly cleanser would you recommend?
Haven’t tried this one.
Neither, I do like the LRP brand of products
I’ve used this one before, I’m using this brands toner right now and it’s great. Avene and Dr Lewinns make gentle cleansers that are similar.

I’d never heard of Bethenny Frankel, but I like the idea of an anti-influencer, haha!
So pleased you’ve never heard of her either, @Misfortune8 – an anti-influencer sounds great, doesn’t it?!
MMM My granddaughter has sensitive skin so this could be a good one for her
She is an influencer though even though she says she’s an anti-influencer but anyway…I like the sound of the cleanser
How can you be an anti influencer but promote a product ?
