For the next little while, our outings will mainly consist of trips to the supermarket, but that doesn’t mean skin care has to get cut from the shopping list.
After all, what better time to discover the hidden gems at your local Coles or Woolies, many of which rival some of the top, premium brands.
And, when all of this is said and done, you may just continue your one-stop-shop supermarket venture. Your skin and bank account will thank you for it…
Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream
It’s official: this brightening moisturiser has officially been crowned the crème de la crème of supermarket skin care. Olay’s world famous formula, which has a glowing reputation for diminishing pigmentation and age spots in dry and mature skin, has already sold over one billion units to date. Surprisingly, it’s still in stock (for now).
“I have been using this product for almost 3 years and it has made a huge difference to the tone and overall appearance of my skin. I am 37 years old and I always get asked how I have such youthful and radiant looking skin. I would highly recommend anyone older than 30 use this product.” – Taejay31
Garnier's Micellar Water is one of my favourite products – it removes makeup so easily. I have also tried a couple of Lacura moisturisers which were okay.
There's a really beautiful natural brand that puts kale in a lot of their products. It's not a supermarket brand though – I saw it on TVSN but it can be bought online directly too I think. It's a brand called Nourish.
The night version of that cetaphil cream is good. Current fave budget supermarket goods are Nivea naturally good shower gel and matchy oat body lotion. Soothing , gentle.
One thing I did buy recently from a recommendation on here, a Jergens body lotion. It was $9.99 in Chemist Warehouse. I’d never used Jergens products, but it had such outstanding reviews, and I was searching for a new body lotion, so I thought I’d give it a try. It is absolutely beautiful, and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. I will get around to submitting a much deserved glowing review ASAP.
I still like Aveeno moisturisers. I bought a bottle of Australian Pure Beauty Moisturiser Sensitive Sorbolene 1lt from Woolies, $6.00. It's not a wow product but I use it to massage my dry skin mixed with essential oils, and for the price, it's not too bad. It has a bit of a smell which I'd say is from the preservative. But once the oils are in there it's fine.
The Olay Cleansing brush is lovely but you cant buy the replacement brushes which is very annoying. I contacted Olay about this and they said that you need to buy the entire thing as they dont have the replacement brushes. Very bad oversight for them. When I was in the US I was lucky enough to get some that fit a different brush but also work with the Olay one.
I already use 5 of these products. I recently purchased Essano Rosehip Oil from Woolies but haven't open it yet because I am finishing off the one I have.
I recently purchased the Garnier Micellar Eco reuseable pads but I'm using the Bioderma Oil cleanser at the moment so I'll try the Garnier when I've finished those. I've also purchased the Olay Retinol 24 night serum. I enjoyed using the L'Oreal one recently so I'm sure the Olay one will be just as good. I've used the Glow Lab oil before.
Love this article for these times….. I can still order boot pick up from the supermarket to limit exposure during these lockdown tines – it takes 14 days before the vaccination kicks in as fully protective after the jab.
I've tried glow lab and was pleasantly surprised, didn't break the budget and my skin loved the serum. I stock up on garnier and skin republic masks when they're on special too
Excellent article! I will consider these next time I need to replace products
Garnier's Micellar Water is one of my favourite products – it removes makeup so easily. I have also tried a couple of Lacura moisturisers which were okay.
I love two of these products so I might have to try the others listed in this article!
Hey Sally10.
I also like L'Oreal Charcoal mask, but I can't find the good one online. Maybe you have some trustful supplier?
There's a really beautiful natural brand that puts kale in a lot of their products. It's not a supermarket brand though – I saw it on TVSN but it can be bought online directly too I think. It's a brand called Nourish.
The essano Kale moisturiser looks interesting!
I’ve not seen the Lacura eye cream. I’ve got the eye mousse. Which is average. It pills a lot.
I'm interested in the reusable cotton pads
The night version of that cetaphil cream is good. Current fave budget supermarket goods are Nivea naturally good shower gel and matchy oat body lotion. Soothing , gentle.
Essano and Nivea SPF creams I need and haven't tried. Did I mention the Garnier mask is $3 on sale at Coles this week!!!
I would love to try the Olay Retinol 24 Night Serum because it is fragrance free.
I honestly can’t see why I would want to pay $59.95 for the Olay Retinol at the supermarket when for much the same I could buy a premium brand. Pass!

Me too, thought it was highly over-rated
The Glow Lab Rosehip Oil Plus is the serum I happened to put on my face just 20 mins ago! bh has a way of knowing things somehow!
I like the idea of the eye masks
Most of these brands are great! Olay have some wonderful skincare goodies that are on par with department store end brands.
These are all brands I love and trust.

I've marked Dior22222 below as spam!
ooo garnier does reusable pads now?
That is a really great idea, what essential oils do you use?
They are all really great brands!

I can recommend the Olay Retinol serum as a gentle treatment for an affordable price.
The natural glow + firming body lotion is excellent too, and it leaves your skin so soft. Really worth buying.
Love Rosehip oil, it is so convenient to get it from the supermarket, they are selling more brands now, and my favourite haircare brands too.
I want to give Garnier face masks a try.
I would like to try Olay Retinal.
I already use 5 of these products. I recently purchased Essano Rosehip Oil from Woolies but haven't open it yet because I am finishing off the one I have.
The supermarket skincare products barely ever go on sale which is why I buy mine from the chemist
I buy mostly Garnier products from the supermarket.
Love the nivea creme looks good enough for me to buy this.

Supermarket products are really nice I like the Garnier , skin republic masks
I love Garnier reusable eco pads.
I'd love to try the eye masks
some great skincare buys can be found at the supermarket
Curious about the reusable pads.
I've tried the L'Oreal cream and really liked it, very rich and creamy.
Hope you had a lovely birthday. We said "Happy Birthday" on the forum birthday thread. Hope you're well. Look after yourself.
Love this article for these times….. I can still order boot pick up from the supermarket to limit exposure during these lockdown tines – it takes 14 days before the vaccination kicks in as fully protective after the jab.
I really like them. Easy to use and clean. They do soak up a bit of product is my only criticism
I'll search out the Garnier reusable pads, they sound good
I've tried glow lab and was pleasantly surprised, didn't break the budget and my skin loved the serum. I stock up on garnier and skin republic masks when they're on special too
The best time to stockpile is when supermarkets have their skin care sale or half price sales.
what great buys
I love Garnier skin active sheet masks.
I love the Nivea daily essentials day cream. It's a product that works so well on my skin with any foundation.
30% off in Coles at the moment, brings it down to $41.30!
