Hands up if you find watching blackhead removal videos so satisfying it’s almost a hobby? Same.
However, dealing with blackheads yourself is substantially less fun.
Mainly caused by overactive oil glands that turn into plugs when clogged with sebum and bacteria (said plug then comes into contact with air at the opening of the follicle, oxidising and turning black – joy!), they can be a pretty frustrating thing to get rid off.
Whilst they’re not painful like pimples, they’re still a giant pain in the a** , generally, so if you’re looking for a consistent oil-balancing routine that helps blast those suckers, look no further.
Here’s our round up of the best masks, scrubs and treatment products specifically formulated to send your blackheads packing…

Dermalogica
Dermalogica Clear Start Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask
This Dermalogica mask purifies without over drying your skin, targeting blackheads before they become breakouts. With oil-absorbing kaolin clay and hydrating apple, it leaves skin nourished, clear and balanced.
Manicare
Manicare Pimple and Blackhead Remover
While we firmly believe in seeing a professional for any type of skin care extractions, if you consider yourself Dr Pimple Popper and are going to do it anyway, here’s a tool to help.
Just make sure to read our blackhead extractor guide first.
Garnier
Garnier Pure Active Blackheads Uprooting Scrub
Antibacterial properties are your blackhead-fighting besties and this Garnier mask is packed with them. It’ll uproot and reduce the appearance of existing blackheads, plus it’s not too abrasive for sensitive skin.
Urbane Mess
Urbane Mess Blackhead Peeling Mask
Peel off formulas are a more extreme option (the peeling process isn’t exactly fun), but this Urbane Mess mask is satisfying and effective. Be patient and leave it to dry properly for optimum results (and a less-messy one-piece peel).
L’Oreal
L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Anti-Blemish Mask
Go the relaxing route with a calming clay mask. This gem from L’Oreal combines three pure clays with soothing Marine Algae Extract to clear congestion, tighten pores and absorb excess oil.
Biore
Bioré Warming Anti-Blackhead Cleanser
Warm up this winter with Bioré’s blackhead clearing cleanser – formulated with zeolite, mineral clay that warms up on contact with water to target oil, dirt and makeup; it fights breakouts whilst working to prevent new blackheads from forming.

Thankfully this is not a problem for me
I have blackheads but I don’t really have oily skin so I worry it is going to strip my skin.
