We’re certainly not fans of the term ‘anti-ageing’. But if you’re looking for the best anti-ageing moisturisers in Australia, you’ve come to the right place.
Though we may not like it, ‘anti-ageing skin care’ is a blanket phrase used in reference to products that target the skin concerns that typically become more evident as we get older. Things like pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, texture, enlarged pores and loss of volume (thanks to reduced collagen production).
Our best defence against a lot of these issues is of course a high SPF face sunscreen applied every day. But the right moisturiser can help to treat them, both day and night.
To find one that suits your skin and the concerns you’re trying to counteract, read on for some helpful reviews…
The best anti-ageing moisturisers
L’OCCITANE Immortelle Divine Cream
We say: It says it right there in the name. L’OCCITANE’s cult-favourite moisturiser is absolutely divine. It’s secret to success is the immortelle super extract and essential oil, which work to increase skin density by boosting collagen synthesis, supporting the skin’s structure and protecting it from external aggressors. It’s an all-rounder that will work well for most mature skin types.
You say: “Less is more definitely with this moisturizer. And no need to layer heaps of skincare before or after, this product is more than enough. My skin is combo, huge pores, mid aged, thin skin around the eyes that is prone to dehydration (I do use acids and VitA over eye area too, can be too much at times). Within seconds when applied this cream melts in and softens my skin. The tightness is gone (on those days when dehydration and dry eye area are present due to over use of actives and stripping foaming cleanser). Skin glows.” – Yohanna

We say: This new kid on the block is certainly gaining a rep as one of the best anti-ageing moisturisers. With a punchy combination of vitamin C and glycolic acid, it’s made for tackling pigmentation and discolouration, while helping to restore the skin barrier.
You say: “I’m up to my second tub and I’m loving the results. This has been great for my dry skin and it looks like it’s been slowly but surely clearing up my acne scars. My favourite part about this cream is that you can actually feel it seeping into your skin. It doesn’t just sit on your skin like some products. This one is actually working and goes into your skin and does it’s job.” –Priyanka705

NIVEA Naturally Good Anti-Age Night Cream
We say: Although it may be the most affordable pick in our edit of the best anti-ageing moisturisers, this navy tub should not be underestimated. It harnesses natural ingredients like burdock fruit extract arctiin and organic argan oil to encourage skin regeneration. Plus, it scores 4/5 stars from over 75 reviews.
You say: “If someone had asked me to use Nivea in the past I would have hesitated due to all the unnecessary ingredients they have included in the past. The new 90%+ natural origin was a true winner for me. Then when the product worked as hard and fast as what it did while being gentle yet non irritating on my regularly sensitive skin, that was it. The fluffy cloud of a consistency cream had done exactly what I needed and wanted.” –the_girl_who_loves_cosmetics

*This article has been updated since its original publication.
Have you tried any of these moisturisers? What are you using at the moment?
People are referring to a Natio one but it’s not in the updated article. Which one was it?
I love Nivea and it’s within my budget.
I love my Nivea sunscreen but I’m no5 keen on their original moisturiser! Maybe this particular one is different?
Me too. I often buy Nivea and also like Natio which is also good value.
Nivea products are classics!
Locitaine is so lush and rich, scent so genuine , like real immortelle…so soothing.
I loved your review Yo!
Thank you Lucy, oh I did a review! Good to know xD
It sure is! Such a treat!
Haven’t tried any of those.
Mmmm Clarins looks good.
I’m super interested in the Elucent cream!
We need an LRP moisturiser on this list!
I would be happy to try the Nivea as long as the fragrance is low
True, their fragrance can be high.
Some creams for me to try!
Elucent which I received in a BH trial team a while ago and have been using the range ever since. Try it.
Great article, nice to see some affordable products for people on budgets and easy to purchase at Chemist Warehouse
Yes that is true and I love it when CW has a good sale on the products I’m after too!
Yes love the range to suit all budgets
They all sound so good, but I have been gravitating towards facial oils for night time use
I like oils too Indie.
I do mix and match when I feel that I need it.
Haven’t started using an anti aging moisturiser yet. Do like the look of the Nivea one
I’ve been using them on and off since I was a teenager as my mum bought them and I used her creams a lot.
I would like to try the Olay ProX, the Nivea and the L’Oreal Age Perfect because I have obtained good results from these brands in the past. Also they are affordable.
the IT packaging looks cool
Sephora now stock Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Face Cream which is supposed to be amazing and it’s also recommended by one of the dermatologists on Doctorly!
Oh that sounds interesting!
I might buy it today to get 15% off!
I would really love to try the Loccitane cream. Everything I tried from Loccitane has been amazing so far
L’Occitane is a wonderful brand!
A lot of great options here, loving the look of the Dr Le Winns one
I’ve tried the L’Occitane and Elucent moisturisers and would recommend both.
I’d be happy to add any of these to my stash.
L’OCCITANE Immortelle Divine Cream is on my Christmas wishlist.
I would be happy to add it to my table but I don’t think that I can justify the price!
Does anyone else hate the term “anti-ageing”?
I’m not a fan either.
The alternative you often hear is ‘youthful looking skin’ which isn’t that much more appealing.
Clinique use the term ‘de-ageing’, it’s a bit weird but better than anti-ageing
If only it always worked !!
The Loreal Age Perfect range is a good one and I am using their day cream at the moment.
I have used heaps of Nivea products but not that one. I should probably have a eye out for it at sale time!
I have a Nivea one that i am using but not tried any of the rest. I need a new night cream..
Some lovely products in this list.
Some of the pries are outside my budget but I do love Dr LeWinns products and Nivea
I hear good things about ProX by Olay.
Love they have included affordable products as well as expensive ones
Some great creams here
Thanks for the information. Big range of purchase prices.
I have tried a few of the above products including Dr. LeWinn’s Reversaderm Cellular Regeneration Cream but have yet to find the one that works the best. Might try ProX by Olay Anti-aging Wrinkle Smoothing Cream and see how it works.
I love the L’OCCITANE Immortelle Divine Cream.
L’Occitane is no longer in the Beauty Heaven brands.
I’ve used the It Cosmetics and L’Oreal but I never seem to stick to one brand. At present I’m using Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Lift & Firm.
Wide variety of products and also wide variety of costs. Thanks for this article as it inspires me to try something new and different. Thank you.
I love the Clarins Extra Firming. I got really lucky and won a tub. Now I almost wish I hadn’t. I love it but it’s not really in my budget.
