It’s an exciting time for the Royal family right now. Kate and Wills have just celebrated their first anniversary as a married couple, plus it’s the Diamond Jubilee, which celebrates a whopping 60 years of The Queen on the throne.
In the spirit of the Royal celebrations and the UK’s Diamond Jubilee festivities taking place right now, we thought it rather fitting to delve into some of the Royal women’s make-up bags and share their top beauty tips with you.
Catherine Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge
So you want to look as timelessly chic and sophisticated as Catherine? Well, you won’t have to dig deep into your coin purse to do so…
CATHERINE’S BEAUTY TIP #1: Breathe easy, with oxygen
The Duchess of Cambridge is a big advocate of oxygen in beauty products, which is said to boost the skin’s dewy, plump appearance. If you like the sound of it too, why not try Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Skin Brightening Makeup? It boosts the skin’s cellular respiration and prevents the signs of ageing.
CATHERINE’S BEAUTY TIP #2: Enjoy thrifty thrills
We were thrilled to see Kate snapped in her local Boots store, picking up NIVEA Visage Pure and Natural Moisturising Day Cream (not currently available in Aus – boo!), which retails for less than AUD$10. If the future Queen of England doesn’t see the need to spend the big bucks when it comes to skin care, then we can all sport our thrifty beauty buys with pride!
CATHERINE’S BEAUTY TIP #3: Keep it natural and tousled
As we saw at the Royal Wedding last year, Catherine likes to do her own make-up and normally sticks to a natural palette with neutral glossy lips and welll-defined eyes. (Click here for her exact Royal Wedding make-up look!)
Kate’s hair is always tousled around her shoulders, with modern-day Carol Brady flicks at the ends. If she does opt for a slightly more polished look, she adjusts her hair into a half-up/half-down ‘do. Perfection reincarnated.
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
Mrs. Prince Charles hasn’t been on the Royal scene for all that long, and while her make-up and hair looks aren’t anything to catapult her to style icon status, she does have one very special skin trick up her sleeve that she swears by – and also recommends to her newly-found stepdaughter-in-law, Catherine.
CAMILLA’S BEAUTY TIP #1: The bee sting facial
Yep, you read right – a facial that tricks your skin into thinking it’s been stung by a bee and mimics the effect on your skin. The treatment works by increasing blood flow to the skin and improving collagen and elasticity. Camilla has been seeing beautician Deborah Mitchell for the treatment for six years now – and Catherine is fast becoming a regular client.
Like the sound of that? Well good! You can get your hands on Deborah’s Abeeco bee venom mask for yourself! The skin-plumping treatment contains manuka honey, shea butter, rose and lavender essential oils, a “secret” ingredient and around one per cent bee venom, which produces a slightly puffy, ‘plumped-up’ effect on the skin, smoothing lines and wrinkles in its path.
